The Experience
Young families will adore it here. The setting is staggeringly beautiful with mountain and sea views, Johnny and Sarah are the warmest, kindest folk to stay with, and you can pretty much do as you please. The whole point is to relax – so although you do have a kitchen in your open-plan apartment, it’s nicer to eat with other guests round one convivial table, let your children make friends with others and play in the sand pit, splash in the fantastic pool, chat in comfort under the bamboo canopy. There’s tons to do: explore vineyards and olive groves, visit the chickens to collect your breakfast eggs, make friends with Beryl the pig, pat the happy goats, ride on a tractor. Inside find books and toys tailored to the ages of your children, rocking horses, a fancy dress box for extra fun, plus all of the more practical facilities and equipment you’d need for travelling with little ones. Fresh bread and croissants appear each morning, you can stride out with a picnic lunch, return to an honesty bar and let somebody else do the kid’s tea while you have a well-earned snifter. Later you can sample authentic Mediterranean food and local wine while you unbend. Sleep peacefully in crisp and charming rooms with pretty lanterns and rugs on terracotta floors; shower rooms are sleek and contemporary. Quite simply a super way to shoehorn yourself back into your own family life.

We enjoyed a wonderfully relaxing week at Caserio del Mirador. We nearly had the place to ourselves and enjoyed days by the pool, feeding Beryl the pig and the rabbits and bouncing on the trampoline. Our 2 year old was in heaven! Sarah provided wonderful hospitality and made us feel at home immediately. We hope to return one day soon!

If you want a quality free range family getaway, Caserío del Mirador should be at the top of your list. My kids couldn't get enough of the pool, tractor, toys, and animals. Mum and dad loved the peaceful view from the patio as the kids explored. Quality beaches and big city attractions are an easy drive. Sarah's been at this awhile and knows what families like. Delicious breakfast and quiet dinner? Done. Heap of Duplo for the toddlers? Here you go. On-site testing? Sorted. My only gripe was the cold pool, but I hear that's fixed. My 4yo twins keep asking when we'll go back (already booked!).

Location
The neighbourhood
Local points of interest from Johnny & Sarah Robinson
- Surrounded by ancient almond and olive groves, Caserío de Mirador is a rural retreat in a dramatic setting with stunning views down to the coast.
- There is plenty of space to roam and explore, and the opportunity to meet the resident goats, ponies, rabbits, pigs and cats.
- The area is famous for its Moscatell desert wines due to a favorable micro climate. The local town, Xaló is a traditional Valenciano community with a range of local bars and restaurants, a weekly market and artisans’ shops where you can buy local produce.
- Xaló is located in the picturesque Vall de Pop, with dramatic mountains on one side and a coastal peninsular on the other. There are a variety of beaches and sea walks within half an hour.
- A highlight for many guests is a day at the beach, arriving back to enjoy kids’ tea and later a relaxed evening savouring freshly prepared local dishes under the stars on the mountain terrace.

We took 3 out of the 5 apartments in the house, Grandparents in the smallest with families with 1 & 2 baby/toddlers in the other 2. The accommodation is excellent, everything is there and working and all very tastefully decorated. Sarah and Johnny are truly excellent hosts, nothing is too much trouble. There are loads of toys as well as play equipment & animals for the children. Teas were a great success with adult beverages making it even more attractive. We opted for as fully catered as possible and Sarah's cooking is superb & varied - lovely paellas, meat dishes, delicious tapas.
