The Experience
Down the long track to a cosy, three storey house, built in 1869, now beautifully restored but with original slate floors and vaulted ceilings intact. You’re surrounded by holm oaks, olive and fruit trees and glorious views of the landscape – all the way to the medieval town of Trujillo on the horizon. The charming ground floor space has an open-plan living and dining room, an integrated kitchen with immense old fireplace and, up in the attic, a games room with a Smart TV.
Eat on the veranda outside the kitchen when it’s warm, sit on the terrace in the garden, cool off in the pool with views, watch the sunsets while listening to many birds. Hone your skills on a mini-football pitch, get stuck into table tennis, or simply doze with a book.
The welcome pack overflows with vegetables, seasonal fruits, eggs and pastries from local suppliers, olive oil from the house, wine if you request. Stock up in town (15kms) or eat out a bit nearer.

Location
The neighbourhood
This is one of the most wonderful areas in the world for botanists and birdwatchers. There are rare flora and fauna, along with hundreds of different bird species including the griffon vulture, black stork and imperial eagle. The dark skies mean you can also stargaze most nights of the year while enjoying a nightcap on the veranda. You're close to culture, art and stunning medieval architecture. The area is called Sierra de los Lagares, a few kilometres from Trujillo, Cáceres, Guadalupe or Mérida, some of the most important historical heritage sites in Spain, with palaces, monuments and buildings of Roman, Visigoth, Muslim, Jewish and Christian times.

Introducing
Pablo Volpi Cundines
Pablo (Spanish mother, Italian father) is well-travelled but now settled in Spain. He uses the house himself when it is available but otherwise lives in Madrid. His background is in advertising. A local lady cleans every three days, or more often if you want.
Typical old house refurbished to be comfortable given the available space, in the middle of the countryside, ideal for families willing to enjoy nature and a peaceful environment. In the middle of Extremadura, a good spot to visit the area including natural scenarios and national parks (Monfragüe, Ibores and Villuercas) and also great historical towns like Trujillo, Guadalupe, Cáceres or Mérida
