The Experience
Breakfast under the pergola with a view of Catalonia. Tumble down terraces to the pool, or dine under the stars. Imagine the beauty of a 17th-century farmhouse with gardens that spill down the hill, redolent with the scent of pines and immersed in tranquillity. The place is a dream.
Space, light, and vast views, bedrooms in one building and apartments in another: the layout of this old farm complex is unique. You’ll not want to leave, but you must visit Girona.
You can roam the entire city by foot, from the narrow streets of the Jewish quarter and the high houses alongside the Onyar river to the 16 Michelin starred restaurants – at El Celler book six months ahead! Costa Brava, the unspoiled ‘wild coast’, is an hour away, with sweeping sands at Pals, beach buses in Begur, and more fabulous places to eat. Your talented young hosts know the best.

Location
The neighbourhood
It's remote - the woods are home to fox, deer, boar, owls - but you have everything you need on site. There's a cosy library with a tea corner, fires for winter, a games room with checkers and cards, stunning breakfasts, picnics and dinners, and a beautiful pool with views. Bikes and horseback rides can be arranged, as can "mindful massages". There are also two farmhouse restaurants nearby.
Local points of interest from Eirene & Donatello Sole Figueras
- Girona Old Town; the Força Vella (dates dates back to the Roman foundation), the Medieval Quarter or the the impressive old Jewish Quarter with its beautiful streets and porticoed squares, and by the exuberant baroque spaces and Noucentisme-style buildings
- Visit the fishermen ports of Palamós (and taste its famous prawns), Pals and Bagur-, discover the Baix Empordà medieval cities and antiquities from La Bisbal de l'Empordà
- The Costa Brava is about sun, beaches, coves surrounded by nature, refreshing dips in crystal-clear water, peace and calm, strolls along coastal footpaths, charming fishing villages...
- Find out more about the life and work of Salvador Dalí by visiting the famous "triangle"; Dalí Theatre-Museum in Figueres, Salvador Dalí House-Museum in Portlligat, in the gorgeous village of Cadaqués and Gala Dalí Castle House-Museum in Púbol.
- Gastronomic; experience the best michelin starred tables of the area like El Celler de Can Roca, Ca l'Enric, Les Cols, Massana or Botic.
- Reach Banyoles Lake or discover the Garrotxa volcanic area. La Garrotxa is, without a doubt, one of the most important protected natural open areas in the Girona. The Croscat volcano and the beech forest known as La Fageda d'en Jordà are the "must visit".

Introducing
Eirene & Donatello Sole Figueras
Eirene, her Italian husband-chef Donatello, and baby Max welcome guests to their home. "Our adventure began in July 2018," when this abandoned farm complex was painstakingly restored to preserve the essence of the Catalan farmhouse. It is beautiful inside and out. Produce comes direct from their garden and the immediate surroundings; and croissants, yogurt, everything is made in-house.
Donatello and Eirine's Hotel/B&B in the hills north of Girona is a wonderful find. Tucked into a hillside overlooking Girona this converted farmhouse really has all the ingredients for a wonderful restful holiday. We spent a week enjoying the views, the lovely terraced garden, the generous swimming pool and the large and comfortable room. However the really wonderful aspect of our stay was Donatello's fabulous food. He is one of those rare chefs who is able to intuitively combine simple flavours and create delicious tasting menus. His local wine recommendations complete the experience.
