The Experience

Relax under a covered veranda with cacti in pots, bougainvillea trailing over old stone walls and long views while you sip a morning coffee. The large garden wraps around the buildings so you can always find a good spot in the sun or shade. Your home from home sits beside owner Sylvia’s house, where she runs a B&B – larger groups can book both, perhaps for a yoga retreat. Walk in to a large, cool open-plan living and dining space with comfy seating, an indoor table and open fire for rare cooler days.

Bedrooms have wooden shutters, mosquito-proof windows and air conditioning along with thick mattresses, so you’ll sleep well to the lulling soundtrack of chattering cicadas. Wander down to the sparkling pool and flop on a lounger, or up to the yoga deck to greet the morning sun. When it’s cool in the evening there are circular walks in the mountains behind you.

You’ll find a neat kitchen but you can walk to a restaurant for good local dishes or drive into San Carlos.

Reviews

We loved staying at Villa Manoa's guesthouse. Set in beautiful spacious grounds, surrounded by nature, with a large outdoor terrace overlooking the pool and San Carlos. Less than 5 minutes drive to town with shops and restaurants, a supermarket and the famous Bar Anita and hippie market Las Dalias. Great location to enjoy wonderful unspoiled beaches and coastal walks. Silvia took good care of us throughout and I look forward to enjoying yoga on her deck next visit.

Annette, Gerrards Cross

Such a glorious setting for this house with wrap-around garden, gorgeous pool, a huge amount of trees and birds, flowers and frogs. Come for a rest and to immerse yourselves in peace, quiet and nature. You're close to town and the sea but far enough away to feel very quiet.

Location

The neighbourhood

The feel is very rural and quiet but it's a short drive to pretty San Carlos – a refuge for artistic hippies in the 60s and still with a gloriously bohemian feel. Find oodles of little cafés for an evening drink or tapas and a vast choice of restaurants from vegan to pizza – even Japanese. There are markets nearby, a good golf course, wine producers to visit and glorious long sandy beaches.

Local points of interest from Sylvia

  • There is plenty of entertainment all year round in Ibiza, plus a variety of activities for sporty types: golf, yoga, diving, kayak tours and some brilliant routes for biking and hiking.
  • Visit the Stalactite caves at the Port de Sant Miquel in the north of the island.
  • Visit the salt fields in Ses Salines Natural Park in the south of the island.
  • Take a day trip to the island of Formentera with its beautiful beaches and clear waters.
  • There are numerous wineries across Ibiza which you can visit and book a wine tasting.
  • Visit the Old Town of Ibiza (Dalt Vila) with its impressive cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Introducing

Sylvia

Sylvia, originally from Germany, has travelled all over the world but is now settled in Ibiza and considers it her home. She's lived here long enough to know absolutely everybody (it's a small island!) and all the best places to eat and to walk – she has a gentle dog which she walks every day. She's a keen gardener and a superb hostess, treating her guests like old friends. You'll feel welcomed.
