The Experience
You can gaze at the Cantabrian Sea as you breakfast in the glass-fronted annexe of this convenient getaway – close to the motorway and the airport but tucked away and surprisingly peaceful. Narrow country lanes wind up to the century-old whitewashed main house, smartly renovated with original indoor architectural features rubbing shoulders with a contemporary extension and rather snazzy decor. Charming owner Tomás, who also cooks and gardens, makes sure couples wanting to rest, or see the sights, or walk for blissful miles are happy. You’ll sleep like a top in one of six airy bedrooms overlooking the mountains and coast with interesting artwork on the walls and old beams crisscrossing the ceilings; big bathrooms have colourful floor tiles and smart fittings. Share the light-filled sitting room and lounge with other guests; there’s a fire for chillier evenings and stacks of books to borrow. Seasonal dinners with local produce and home-grown veg are served at separate tables looking over that view. It’s a short drive to the pretty fishing village of Luarca and the botanical gardens of Fonte Baixa.

Hotel is in a quiet rural location up in the hills with a great view over the 3 capes that it's named after. There are plenty of seats, both inside and out, to sit in to relax and enjoy the view. The dining room and communal areas all look out over the view. We enjoyed our meal - and there was a bar / tea and coffee facilities if you wanted a drink. If the weather was challenging Tomas had a wide range of books and dvds and games you could use.

Location
The neighbourhood
Local points of interest from Tomás Bernar
- The hotel’s location at 400 meters above sea level makes for the perfect stroll while sorrounded by spectacular sights. Native fauna such as wild boards, roe deer, foxes, birds of prey, owls and of course cows that inhabit the meadows.
- The Asturian coastline is one of the last strongholds of the Virgin Coast. Enjoy the beauty of the beaches and isolated creeks surrounded by meadows and an intense green forest. The Cantabric sea in its purest state is just a few steps away.
- The paths which run along this coastline are just meters away from breathtaking cliffs providing an injection of pure air and peace that leaves no one indifferent.
- Luarca has a lot to offer. The fishing port and capital of Valdés has various bars, cider houses and restaurants with cider tasting, fresh fish and traditional dishes. Festivals and a wide range of fairs make it a place to visit all year round.
- Through local companies, the hotel arranges and reserves horseback riding which takes place through the rural areas near the hotel. We provide an option of routes with trained horses for adults and children which are guided by a monitor.
- The Hotel manages guided tours to the Fonte Baixa gardens, a stunning botanical garden with hundreds of astonishing species of flowers, plants and trees from all over the world.

We stayed two nights in this quiet, small, beautifully designed hotel, high up amongst the hills, with views of the coast. The bedroom was large, high up in the eaves, but there is a small lift, so no need to carry your luggage! We sat up in bed and watched the mist clearing in the valley below and listened to the cows' bells as they grazed. Breakfasts and dinners were absolutely delicious, taken in the room overlooking the garden and coast beyond. We had our laundry done there and nothing seemed to be too much trouble for Tomas and the staff. Useful directions and signs along the road.
