The Experience

Slip into a peaceful world with far-reaching mountain views. A handful of houses; in the distance, the sea. So calming, it’s possible you will never stir from your vine-shaded patio. The two blinding-white Andalusian-style houses are prettily hung with geraniums and have uninterrupted views, one to the sea, the other to the mountains. The big pool is edged with colourful pots and the garden is a triumph of wild olive and carob, giant cactus, succulents and palms, with plenty of shady spots from which to admire the views.

Inside, the vaulted, beamed living spaces have comfy sofas, fresh flowers and pretty pottery. Bedrooms are neat-as-a-pin with king size beds, kitchens have everything you need and Maureen leaves you a welcome basket including wine, beer and crisps. For al fresco meals you’ll find an outdoor grill and eating area with the best views ever.

Come to unwind, recharge your batteries, laze on a lounger and be soothed by a cool breeze and the delicious scent of rosemary and lavender.

Reviews

We stayed in Casa Limones (previously stayed in Casa Los Olivis), for an amazing week of total relaxation, it was bliss to watch the sun rise over the sea, lazy days, plenty of places to sit in the sun and watch the clouds go by and then the sun setting, just wonderful. Perfect spot, we will be back.

Liz, Southwold

We stayed at Los Olivos. Detached from the main house and other cottage by a quiet lane, it provided everything we needed for a comfortable relaxing stay. It offers the most amazing Andalusian Mountain View’s, with swifts and birds of prey flying over head. Maureen the owner was a lovely host, providing local knowledge of where to go and what to see. We found her help invaluable. We hope to return very soon.

Steve, Brighton

A very special place to stay. Comfortable bed and beautiful, peaceful surroundings. We enjoyed barbecues watching the sunsets over the mountains, eating delicious food in nearby Alhaurín and great walks in the countryside and coastal. Lots to see and do in the area if you can drag yourself away from the lovely pool area or comfy chairs in the shade. Maureen is a great host with good communication and any advise needed. We stayed for a week and wished it had been for a month!

Carol, Thirsk

Fabulous accommodation in a peaceful location but within easy reach of the coast and airport. Lots to see and do in the area as well as supermarkets and restaurants a short distance away. Loved the cottage and particularly the outdoor sitting area. The cottage is very well equipped with lots of thoughtful extras thanks to Maureen. The perfect holiday for relaxation and views whilst enjoying a glass or two of Cava. Will definitely return and recommend.

A truly "Special Place to Stay" Casa Limones is a gem of a place! We loved the stunning views, the traditional simple style of the cottage and the refreshing swimming pool set amidst lovely planting made for a perfect visit. Maureen had thought of everything to make our stay easy and comfortable and we appreciated the welcome pack of wine and essentials to get us started with our self catering. She was also very helpful when we sought advice. The location is great for the tranquility but also not too far for trips out. We hope to return one day!

Vicki, Letchworth Garden City

If you need to escape the daily grind and recharge your tired batteries, Maureen has created just the place for you. Carved away in the hills looking down to the coastline are these two gorgeous, cosy casitas just ideal for a couple. You can hide away and no one will find you, have a drink in the shade, cook dinner to eat under the stars, sunbathe and look across to the mountains. Perfect.

Myles, Sawday's Inspector

Lovely and relaxing break, close enough to pretty mijas to explore and some lovely walks. As described!

Naomi, Surrey

Fantastic week spent, what a little Gem this is. Perfect for recharging the batteries, so peaceful and tranquil. The accommodation is lovely and the bed so comfy. The views are truly amazing. Can’t wait to go back. Wonderful Hostess and loved Rosie the Dog. Feel truly rested after my holiday xx

Just returned from a wonderfully restful 10-day stay at Casa Limones. The location of this beautiful apartment is quiet and rural and the scenery is absolutely stunning. The seclusion is the real charm of this place - plus the lovely pool which is shared only with one other apartment. The owner is also on hand whenever you need her, but equally mindful of allowing her guests the peace and tranquility that Casa Limones readily offers. The apartment had all the equipment we could have needed for our stay, and there are shops and restaurants around 10 to 15 minutes drive in either direction.

Sarah, Folkestone

Lovely traditional Spanish-style cottages surrounded by a beautiful mountain landscape. Enjoy the peaceful, relaxing environment, dip into the pool whenever you wish. We never tire of being here. Being close to the coast there are so many places you can reach from here. Anywhere from Nerja to Marbella and Estepona is within easy reach, even Gibraltar and Granada aren't too far away. Plenty of inland destinations to visit, too such as Mijas Pueblo, which is just up the road, Ronda and Antequera to name just three. We find it the perfect place to stay or use as a base for travelling.

Simon, Newport

We stayed in Los Olivos for a week in mid June...oasis of calm, with jaw dropping scenery, amazing cacti, very nice and discreet host and a great base to explore beaches and mountain towns of Andalusia, aided by Maureen's (owner) experiences. This place summed up "special" for me - exactly why Sawdays is my first go to for holidays. Inside it is very tastefully and authentically decorated and everything we wanted for comfort was there. The biggest challenge was leaving the place and its very comfortable bed. You need a car/motorbike to stay here as there is no village in walking distance.

After a working lifetime as expats and having had the privilege of living in and visiting many gorgeous places worldwide, we find we keep coming back to stay at Maureens beautiful cottages in the mountains. latterly we have progressed to twice a year for a month at a time whilst ‘working from home’. Peace and tranquility descends upon us almost as soon as we arrive. We can quite honestly say, it has to be one of our favourite destinations. The warm welcome from Maureen (and Bobby) is wonderful. spoilt for choice for places to go, we always seem to run out of time. Most highly recommended!

We have just spent an idyllic week at Casa Limones. The weather was perfect for us, low to high 20s and we ate most of our meals outdoors. The pool is a real bonus and is surrounded by a beautiful garden and views to die for! Maureen was a delightful host and very helpful. We hired a car and explored the surrounding countryside every day, returning to watch the sun go down and relaxing with a glass of wine on the terrace. This was our first visit to Spain and we hope to return to Casa Limones in the near future. Highly recommend this beautiful place for a relaxing holiday.

Jean, Scarborough

We have just returned from a much needed break and found Casa Limones perfect, Maureen was an excellent host providing information when we needed it, the location is superb, if you are looking for a peaceful, quiet retreat you couldn’t do better than this. Amazing views of surrounding area, an abundance of wild flowers - everything within a few miles. We are planning on returning in October.

Liz, Southwold

After six years since our last visit, we were so excited to return to our favourite place. Casa Limones is the perfect hideaway, either to rest and relax by the pool and on the terrace or as a base to explore the beautiful Costa del Sol. The photos don't do it justice, it really is idyllic and peaceful. Maureen is a wonderful host, always on hand to help and makes sure the cottage is clean and comfortable with everything you need. We will keep coming back here for as long as we can!

Zarine, Ely

We have been coming here since 2017, only interrupted by COVID! It is peaceful and charming, and the pool is a great boon, Both cottages have advantages. Off season, Olivos has a fire, and magnificent views, or lovely if you are a non swimmer. Limones is also lovely and next to the pool. You could not wish for a better host than Maureen. We will be re-booking!

Megan, Milton Keynes

The perfect spot for our first trip abroad. Los Olivos was comfortable and well equipped for a self catering holiday, Maureen supplied us with a welcome pack which was a great start. Fantastic views of the surrounding hills and countryside and very quiet too. You can use the lovely pool adjoining Casa Limones. Once on the main road there are plenty of places to visit within a reasonable drive including Mijas Pueblo, Marbella and Mijas Costa. Maureen was a great hostess and there is plenty of local information available in the cottage.

Carole, Enfield

Los Olivos has the most amazing view across the valley and we’ve loved watching the sun change the mountains from dusty pink to a lush green from the terrace. It’s the perfect rural getaway, secluded and private but a short drive away to well-equipped shops. Maureen is the perfect host and has thought of everything to help you to relax into a comfortable stay in her gorgeous finca. The gardens and pool are immaculate and we’ve enjoyed the company of her gentle and friendly dog. We can’t wait to visit again soon!

Ellen, Oxford

We stayed in Los Olivos. An idyllic setting with delightful scenes of soaring birds high above the Andalusian hills and colourful spring flowers opening up in the sun amongst the olive trees. Ideal to have a swimming pool to dip into across the road and then retreat to our own space to contemplate and enjoy the magnificent sunsets.

Liz, Amsterdam

Absolutely wonderful to be able to travel properly again after the last two difficult covid years…. we stayed in Los Olivos and this little corner of Andalucia was absolutely perfect for us. Maureen has thought of just about everything. The houses, the pool and gardens are beautifully maintained and the reality truly matches the photos. The coast is rather busy but it’s lovely to explore the white hillside villages and then come home, have a dip in the pool, sit on the terrace with amazing views, sip something cool and and watch the light changing on the mountains. Simply idyllic!

Location

The neighbourhood

It's a short drive off the main Alhaurin-Fuengirola road, down a small country lane but not too far from shops and restaurants. Los Limones looks down to the coast and Los Olivos to the mountains and valleys and you are surrounded by the National Park so walking is sublime. Alhaurin el Grande is 6kms for good restaurants and Fuengirola about 15-20 minutes in the car. The Lauro Golf Resort is near.

Local points of interest from Maureen Cassey

  • Enjoy spectacular views from the cottages of eagles gliding on the thermals above the Sierras de Ojen National Park, or only a 15 minute drive into the park for magical walks amongst Pine, Mediterranean Oak, Carab and Chestnut trees.
  • Enjoy lunching on local fish at the many Chiringuito bars on the beaches, or dinner watching the sunset transform the colour of the sea to copper tones !
  • Local olive oil and a huge selection of local organic salad and fruit produce available in local shops.
  • World Heritage Site The Alhambra Palace, the Historical mountain town Ronda dating back to the Romans with it's bridges straddling the deep gorge and vibrant Seville all three are an unforgettable day out.
  • See local life, spend a warm evening in the bustling town square of Fuengirola with it's imposing church, eat at one of the outside cafes with a selection of tapas (The Plaza Bar is my favourite) lots of little boutique shops too.
  • Take a drive to the incredible turquoise blue lakes, see amazing rock formations at El Torcal or visit the newly opened breathtaking Caminito del Rey walkway built onto the side of cliffs along a ravine with spectacular views. Pre book online.
