The Experience
Step through the unassuming wooden door on a quiet side street into a delightful home filled with antiques, pottery and art. Thick stone walls, tiles underfoot and ancient beams add to the drama. With five calming bedrooms spread across different floors, one reached via a spiral staircase with views across the arched atrium, there’s plenty of space for everyone.
Plump down on huge squashy sofas or wander outside to the terrace with views across the rose-scented gardens. Find a shady corner to read, float in the small pool, eat outside under the stars. You can barbecue or cook in the well-equipped kitchen making use of your generous welcome pack and larder of basics.
A shop and restaurants are a short stroll but you’re in the heart of the Sierra de Aracena and Picos de Aroche Natural Park for superb walking and mountain biking. Return to ease your limbs in the sauna and chill-out zone with cosy robes and organic balms.

Magnolia House covertly hides its myriad of treasures behind its rough-hewn wooden door. This beautiful home has been renovated with love, style and great eco-credentials. On the patio with views of the surrounding hills peeping between the trees, the glory of Andalucia on the doorstep and the scent of roses from the garden, this is the perfect retreat - I would return in a heartbeat.

Location
The neighbourhood
Beyond the village, the larger town of Aracena (10 minute drive) has plenty of shops and restaurants. The region is famed for jamón ibérico and wild mushrooms - the owner can arrange a mushroom picking experience. The oak and chestnut woodland and open green spaces of the parque natural has a plethora of well-maintained walking trails with mostly gentle slopes.

This has been a wonderful stay. The communication with the hosts has been excellent. The house is even nicer than the photographs. When you approach the house from the outside, you can’t imagine the wonders inside – the sauna….the vaults….the garden and pool where we have spent unforgettable moments. This is the best house that we have ever stayed in and I must congratulate you for this spectacular conversion!
