The Experience
Wake to blue skies and a bountiful breakfast: local cheeses, freshly squeezed oranges, gorgeous homemade jams. Everything is pleasing inside and out, new but traditional and charmingly informal.
Anne was in hotel management, Glyn was a London-trained chef… and their dog will greet yours with a happy wag (expect dog dishes and dog beds too). Not only do your hosts provide big beds, small balconies, olive-oil toiletries and eco-friendly fans, they are a font of local knowledge. Cycle over viaducts and past amazing scenery on the revitalised track of the olive oil railway: the ‘Via Verde.’ Visit white-walled Priego de Córdoba, baroque pearl of the Subbética – a 15-minute drive. Or head for the Alhambra in Granada or Córdoba’s dazzling cathedral; each are an hour’s drive.
Return to a jolly aperitivo in town, and stroll home to an Andaluz dinner – fresh, original, and delicious.

My husband, daughter and I spent four wonderful nights at Casa Rural los Danzantes. We were in Spain for 3 weeks and this was the highlight of our trip. Anne and Glyn are the most gracious hosts and what they have created is simply delightful. Our rooms were spacious, supremely comfortable and beautifully done. Glyn cooked dinner for us three of the nights and the food was superb. We do recommend you take the dinner option at least once. Anne was very knowledgeable about the local area and we had three wonderful days exploring the local sights. Would love to go back one day.

Casa Rural los Danzantes is a very special place to stay. The hosts Anne and Glyn are fantastic; very welcoming and extremely helpful with plenty of good ideas for walks and other activities in the area. The rooms are beautifully decorated and very spacious and there is a delightful courtyard where you can relax with afternoon tea and a book. The breakfasts are delicious, with homemade breads and jams, and the evening meals are just fabulous - amazing home made dishes by the incredibly talented Glyn. We only wish we could have stayed longer - a very memorable and restorative break.

Location
The neighbourhood
The house sits on a narrow street in the small friendly town of Fuente-Tójar. There are a few shops and bars, a summer pool, and walks through olive groves and mountains. Nearby is hilltop Priego de Cordoba with its fascinating Moorish quarter, Barrio de la Villa, and ornate baroque churches and fountains. The views are stunning, and the town is known for its olive oil.
Local points of interest from Glyn Schneider
- After searching Andalucia for the perfect place to relocate we settled upon Fuente Tojar, ideal for slowing down after a hectic career of managing and cooking in our own restaurants.
- The historic town of Priego de Cordoba is just 15 minutes drive where the production of award winning olive oil still thrives. Wander through the narrow flower filled streets of the barrio and enjoy the views from the Balcon del Adarve.
- Granada with the Alhambra and Cordoba and the Mezquita are both within a pleasant one hour drive, as are the beaches of the Costa del Sol
- For nature lovers there are the wild flowers of the spring, easy walking with spectacular views and majestic eagles and vultures to be spotted.

Introducing
Glyn Schneider
After touring Andalucia in search of authenticity and "a slower pace of life", Anne and Glyn discovered Fuente Tojar in 2019, midway between Granada and Córdoba. Having run two small successful restaurants in Ireland, local fresh food is high on the agenda, and their British chef is well-versed in Andaluz culinary style. Labrador Monty adds to the overall charm.
We enjoyed amazing hospitality staying with Anne and Glynn at Casa Rural los Danzantes. Our room was beautifully decorated with fresh flowers, floral prints and charming antique furniture. It also contained a large comfy emperor size bed and a spacious en-suite. The generous breakfast was served in the pretty courtyard garden and was different every day but would include home made preserves and jams, local cheeses and meats. We chose to eat dinner at Casa Rural three nights and the food was truly amazing and had the feel of private dinning. We would wholeheartedly recommend Casa Rural
