The Experience

Up the hill, along the winding track, through the olive and almond groves to a splendid old house in generous grounds with long views across the valley. Inside you’ll find beamed ceilings, good art and sculptures and masses of space. A large open plan living and dining room has a stone fireplace (logs provided) and the table will be set for when you arrive: a welcome hamper has local hams, cheeses, bread and bottles of wine.

Bedrooms (three on the ground floor, two under the eaves) are roomy with lovely linen and antiques. Cooking together is easy with a warming Aga and a wooden table for prepping – or you can hire a private chef. Above here there’s a mezzanine, perfect for teenagers, with a sofa, smart TV and twin bedroom with bathroom.

The garden wraps around the house so you can follow (or hide from) the sun. Organise yoga and Tai chi sessions out here, or Shiatsu massages; the new yoga shala overlooks olive groves. Enjoy evenings under the covered dining area with barbecue and table tennis.

Reviews

We are a group of very close friends (all over 60!) who have stayed at the Manoir now for a week in October for the past 3 years and are already booking for next year. The Manoir is absolutely perfect for our annual get together and we really can't imagine staying anywhere else. Momme (the chef) cooks a meal on the one of the evenings which is a real treat. It really is just perfect.

Karen, Skipton

We had a completely wonderful stay. The Manoir is beautiful and everyone was so kind and friendly towards us. The location was perfect. We enjoyed visiting Roman Ruins at Estoi, beautiful beaches, catching the ferry to Ilha Armona and driving to Carvalho and Beijnhos. Perfection.

Jennifer, Kendal

I am delighted to tell you that we have had a wonderful holiday in Portugal at a lovely location. The Manoir is everything that we had hoped it would be and entirely suitable for grandparents, parents and children. The Manoir provided a great base for us to celebrate the 6th birthday of the twins and our 50th wedding anniversary. Many thanks to the team for providing such a memorable holiday.

A very special place to stay - a stunning, original house full of character with many beautiful pieces of furniture and art, in beautifully planted gardens with fresh produce and miniature goats! It has a pool, barbecues (gas and charcoal), table tennis, a yoga platform with mountain sunset views, and a choice of lovely seating areas. There are 6 pretty bedrooms and plenty of bathrooms to accommodate up to 12 adults in comfort. Staff are really helpful and kind and will supply everything from beach recommendations to fresh fruit and vegetables from the garden.

This was one of the best villa finds ever! As a large group self-catering for 12 ppl the kitchen was amazing! Everything we could want and more. There are so many lovely spaces to chill, eat nice food, read a book, drink a glass of wine. The kids loved the pool, and everything about the place felt spacious and quiet. The ultimate family getaway. Though we needed a car to go to the beach or on shopping excursions, this was perfect for us as we were looking for peace and privacy.

Casey, London

What can I say. We have just spent a magical week at the Manoir which exceeded all our expectations. This is a family home which makes you feel as though you belong as soon as you enter it's stylish front door. Everything has been thought of so carefully and our group of mixed ages all found our own little special place. Although we hadn't booked yoga, sitting on the platform looking across the olive groves to the coast was spellbinding. We will be back!

Kate, Skipton

We had a lovely time at the Manoir. The house was just like in the pictures and everyone involved were so kind and helpful! The house was equipped and stocked with everything we could possibly need. The welcome spread of local food and drinks was such a generous touch! The weather wasn’t so great during our stay, but the house was big enough for us all to stay indoors, sit by the fire and just relax without feeling like we were on top of each other. We hired their recommended chef, Momme, for two evenings. His food was divine and he was so kind. We’d love to come back and visit again soon!

Tina, Chicago

Everything was just exceptional and suited our family perfectly. Great service all round. This is definitely not going to be my last visit to the Manoir!

A group of us stayed at the Manoir to celebrate my 70th birthday. We had been searching for somewhere that was beautiful, secluded and yet not isolated, easily accessible and perfect for our get together. The Manoir ticked all of these boxes and ensured that we all had an unforgettable holiday with a group of friends. We hired Momme (the local chef) to cook for us – he prepared an exceptional and yet very reasonable feast for us. We highly recommend the villa, the area and, of course, the wonderful chef who happens to live just around the corner. Book The Manoir – you won’t regret it.

Gorgeous house on a quiet hillside with beautiful views in a very unspoilt area of the Eastern Algarve. We were a party of eight adults and three children under three and there was ample room. A lovely combination of quiet spaces and communal living in a well furnished extremely pretty house. Ample outside and inside eating areas and a garden full of fig trees. A great success.

Christopher, Lier, Belgium

The Manoir is a great place for a big group or family reunion. We had a great time. Super quiet and great pool!

Absolutely stunning villa, 12 of us rented the villa for our friends birthday surprise and it was nothing but a delightful experience from start to finish. Tamar was amazing and helpful when it came to booking it all quickly, Anna was amazing help with getting to the villa and showing us around the villa and getting us settled in. Honestly a magical stay and would recommend to anybody wanting to book a lovely getaway.

Zak, London

The Manoir was a simply amazing place to stay - the house was simply beautiful, just like the pictures but even more fabulous. The pool was a great size which suited our party of 10 (ages 7 - 74!). It is a peaceful haven with views across the valley, plenty of space with loads of lovely places to sit and relax. It was spotlessly clean and each room having its own decor and style. Anna was a great help with expert local knowledge and was on hand for any questions we had. I would highly recommend a stay at The Manoir - we all wished we could have stayed longer.

Benita, Bath

The Manoir was exceptional in a stunning location in the hills - very peaceful and secluded but also very close to the lovely market towns of Sao Bras and Loule. The views from the terrace were spectacular. The housekeeper looked after us with clean towels and fresh flowers and we felt quite spoilt. The pool was heated to a perfect temperature. We loved our time at the Manoir and didn't want to leave. We will definitely try to return over the summer (if it isn't fully booked which I imagine it will be). I cannot recommend highly enough.

Peter, Nottingham

A fabulous house in a fabulous setting. Facilities fantastic. People very helpful if we needed anything and great advice about what to see and do in the area. We particularly loved the gardens and views and the different areas to sit in them through the day.

Dave, Skipton

The Manoir was exceptional. It exceeded all our expectations, and we had an absolutely wonderful stay. Anna, the housekeeper, couldn't have been more helpful and went out of her way to make our stay even more special - the welcome pack had been thoughtfully put together and was sufficient for our first meal on arrival. The pool was heated to a perfect temperature and with sensational views across the surrounding hills towards the coast, we felt that we had the whole of this glorious area to ourselves. Book it - you won't regret it!

Josie, Nuneaton

A fun, arty well equipped home to stay in. The arrival package was phenomenal, the quality of the bathroom towels great. Pool towels provided. We had the best holiday!

Stella, London

We had a very pleasant stay, a very well-located estate, very nice environment, well equipped, efficient and very helpful staff. A wonderful holiday.

Victor Jean, Paris

The house is stunning, with high ceilings and such beautiful decor, every aesthetic detail has been thought through. It’s functional too and very well equipped. There is so much space overall and many different quirky little locations to soak up the view or the ambiance. We often felt like we were in a film! The pool is huge and exactly the right temperature and there are enough shady spots to cool off. Thank you for being such wonderful hosts and so responsive to our needs. With much gratitude 🙏🏽 Nina + friends xx

Nina, Brighton

We were a family of 10, aged twixt 6-83, so the Manoir’s many spaces, shady spots, good sized pool, washing machine, well provided and spacious kitchen all added up to an extremely pleasant and convenient setting. We loved our stay.
