Quinta das Achadas

What a perfect 'home corner' to which to retreat. Our apartment (Bouganvilla) was well equipped and comfortable with a patio surrounded by mature trees and shrubs in flower. Great pre-breakfast swims in the heated pool. Breakfasts were leisurely and lovely; fruit / yoghurts / cereals / etc. Evening meals (part of most guests’ ‘deals’) were excellent and held 'en famille' so the guests could socialise & share ‘where-to-go’. Julio had cheffed before taking on the Quinta - and you can tell; Jill is no slouch in the kitchen, either. Lovely, friendly, helpful, people. We want to go back.

We had a wonderful 6 nights here at the end of November and the weather was a glorious as the quinta! Cool nights but warm hospitality. Our four year old loved feeding the pigs in the morning, loved the hot tub and swimming pool (thank you so much for heating it for us especially!), playground and also the great nearby beaches. Perfect for our trip and we loved our two dinners in teh cosy bar with Jill and Julio - thank you!

Jill and Julio went out of their way to ensure we had a fabulous holiday. The accommodation is relaxing, extremely clean (thank you Rosa) and comfortable (best bed we have slept in on a holiday). The breakfast is perfect - fresh fruit, yoghurts, toast, jams etc plus cooked if you would like it. The bbqs that happens a couple of times a week are a highlight. An opportunity to mix with fellow guests whilst Jill and Julio cook and share stories of the area. The pool is a wonderful size - perfect for children as well as adults. The cabana is a lovely spot for chilling in. Location is fab too!

This place was so good that our kids actually thanked me for booking it. Jill and Julio truly make it a special stay - they know the area so well and have recommendations for whatever you want to do. Great pool and gardens and play area for the kids. Breakfast was perfect - and made for a very sociable start to the day. Jill and Julio offered 2 communal dinners during the week and this made it very special - kids and adults all got the chance to meet new friends and enjoy good food. Location is very good for exploring Med and Atlantic coasts. A perfect holiday.

What a wonderful find after driving up a rather doubtful track. We spent a glorius week in the area returning each evening to our base and the fun of Julio. Great advice given, excellent breakfast and evening meals (3). The accommodation is great (if perhaps a little tired) and nothing is too much trouble - we'll be back and possibly with an enlarged family for which it has every amenity.

This was our third visit to Jill & Julio's but our first 2 week stay and with our friends from California in tow. We love the peaceful setting of the Quinta and the apartments and rooms are superb. The location is perfect for exploring the quieter end of the Algarve. Each year we still find different coves, villages and new restaurants to visit, all delightful with some of our favourites being in Odiaxere itself. But the highlight is always the camaraderie between Jill & Julio and the rest of the guests. Would I recommend this place to stay - a definite yes.

We found Jill and Julio through Alistair Sawday around 10 years ago and have stayed more than 6 times , sometimes with family or friends, sometimes just the 2 of us. It has always been delightful .A great breakfast environment, comfortable and flexible accommodation, the swimming pool , and outdoors jacuzzi , the lovely flowers and trees -- a relaxing environment. above all the evening meals- good food, varied company , good wine and lively , considerate hosts .We love the western Algarve and this Quinta is a great base for exploring it , though you need to drive .

We really loved the relaxed and atmosphere here. Jill and Julio could not have done more to make our holiday a good one. Our apartment was spacious and comfortable. Our only slight minus point, was that we were a little cold at night in our apartment in November. We would love to return to the Quinta which has a wonderful and unique feel to it.

We had been given rave reviews and our accommodation and welcome backed these up in spades. We thoroughly enjoyed our communal dinners - the cooking was excellent and our hosts and fellow guests made for lively discussion and rather late nights.We loved the gardens and pool and the friendly dogs just added to the overall ambience of the place.The Quinta is in a perfect place to explore the whole of the Algarve. During our stay we visited Tavira in the East and up to Odeceixe on the West Coast. None of our trips involved driving over an hour in any direction - perfect)
