In the grounds of the grand 300-year-old manor are these modern apartments; a stunning blend of contemporary architecture and tradition. Baskets, blankets, ceramics and tall glass vases filled with petals add character; bathrooms have deep baths and hand-painted tiles. A woollen cushion on a carved bench, burning incense, a silk-clad mannequin – all contribute to the serenity of this place. Start the day with breakfast delivered to your terrace: hams, cheeses, fresh bread and pastries, homemade jams.

Borrow bikes, stroll vineyards and woodlands, rest on wooden sun loungers by the pool. For dinner, the chef can serve a special 3-course meal at the main house for groups of eight or more; you can drive 10 minutes to good restaurants, or request a pre-cooked meal to heat up in your cottage.
