The Experience
Take the village bus to Sintra, to visit fairytale castles in the mountains. Or hop in the car for lovely Guincho beach. One of the wildest surfing spots in Europe, it’s a ten-minute drive.
This sleepy village in the Sintra National Park is beautifully placed for touring, and 2km from the most westerly point of Europe. As for the house, which dates from the 1800s, it has been recently renovated and stylishly put together. Settle down to lunch in the peaceful courtyard garden, where the apple tree gives plenty of shade. For rainy days, there are books, games, and a piano.
The kitchen is great but if you fancy a night out, family-run restaurants are a two-minute stroll. Start with the friendly Refúgio da Roca, where delicious highlights include steak on skewers and squid and octopus on the grill.

Location
The neighbourhood
In the friendly little village of Azoia you have a cluster of shops, bars and restaurants; A Casa do Luís comes highly recommended. Note the village can be busy in season when tourists come to visit Cabo da Roca. The beautiful wild beaches are almost as close, including off-the-beaten-track Louriçal, a half-hour walk. Several golf courses lie a within a 15-minute drive.
Local points of interest from Molly Price
- The living room was added in 2000. The original part of the house is old & dates to at least the 18th century (possibly earlier). The construction of the house is typical of the area, with thick stone walls & small windows.
- Azóia is mainland Europe’s most westerly village & positioned in the Sintra National Park. This small village is perfectly located for exploring Sintra & surrounding villages, the hills of the National Park & the coastline which stretches out from Cascais.
- On Saturdays and Sundays there is a market on the road just outside Almoçageme selling mainly fruit & vegetables alongside bread, cheeses, meats, olives and other local produce. Enjoy freshly baked pizza at Roulote da Gigi's when you have finished shopping
- Close to Azoía you will find the mysterious Sintra, the charming towns of Colares and Almoçageme; these locations are about a 20min drive away and only 35 minutes by car from Lisbon airport and Lisbon city centre, Azóia is a lovely spot to enjoy!
- There is wonderful walking in the Sintra National Park which can be accessed on foot from our house. Options range from a gentle amble in woods to longer, more challenging treks. Surfing, horse riding, wine tours, Golf (etc) are also available close by.

Introducing
Molly Price
The owners, who live in the UK, bought and renovated this house in 2018. Guests will be greeted by an agency.
Lovely location for those who love the village life and mixing with the locals but still have the hustle and bustle of busy towns 20 mins away. Lovely walks.
