Why visit Cornwall?
Breathtaking landscapes, vast skies and azure seas – Cornwall offers every type of holiday experience whether you’re looking to sample the best Cornish cream teas, discover modern art at the Tate St Ives, or try a surf lesson at Polzeath. Walkers will love to strike out across the heather-clad wilds of Bodmin moor or hike rugged coastal paths with hidden coves at every turn.
The Camel Trail is perfect for cyclists who prefer a flat route with beautiful views, and sea safaris offer the chance to spot seals, dolphins, porpoises, and seabirds just off the coast. Sample local specialities at Rock Oyster Festival in July, listen to live music at the Eden Sessions in June or brave chilly sea waters for the traditional Christmas Day swim on a festive getaway.

Is Fowey worth visiting?
Get out on the water in a sailboat, visit the sandy beach at Readymoney Cove, walk the scenic footpath to charming Polruan village and sample fresh seafood in one of Fowey’s many restaurants. The pretty harbour town is perfectly situated for day trips, with The Eden Project, The Lost Gardens of Heligan and Bodmin Jail all within easy reach.
What is the best time of year to visit Fowey?
The summer holiday crowds descend on Fowey in late July and August when the Regatta takes place and water sports come into their own, but there’s plenty to entertain visitors out of peak season. The independent shops and cosy cafes are quieter in autumn and winter and there are arts, literature and music festivals to enjoy all year round as well, as a lively Christmas market in late November.
How do you spend a day in Fowey?
Fuelled by pancakes and coffee from Brown Sugar Café, set sail on a river cruise passing Daphne’s Du Maurier’s house. Back on dry land, explore the galleries and boutiques on Fore Street before heading off for a walk through the wooded hillside above Pont Pill creek with beautiful views over the harbour. Round off the day with award-winning burgers and fresh fish at Sam’s restaurant and cocktail bar, a Fowey institution since the 80s.
