The Experience
Skirt upwards around the edge of the lovely old town walls of Montone to find an ancient stone farmhouse and enthusiastic owners Aine and Fabio; three holiday homes form part of a long, low barn opposite. La Stalla & La Cantina are single storey; La Torretta, in the middle, has two floors. All is new inside; find open-plan living/kitchen areas with simple wooden tables, eco-heated floors, beamed ceilings and white walls. Bedrooms are simple and stylish, with pretty rose-pink quilts and good mattresses; the upstairs bedroom in La Torretta has the best views, but all are bright and airy. Bathrooms are spacious with good big showers and warm biscuit coloured tiles. You have your own terracotta terrace with comfortable furniture and a pergola for shade; privacy is provided by hedging and a high trellis with roses. Supplies are left for breakfast on your first morning and you have your pick of the vegetable garden. Explore the area: the walks are sublime and there’s a film festival in July.

We visited Casa delle Grazie in the first week in September 2016. The property we rented was excellent and we used this as a base for our sightseeing. However we did spend a couple of lovely days lying by the pool and relaxing. Aine was a fantastic host, ensuring that we had everything that we needed. A welcome pack is provided which is a lovely touch. The accommodation was maintained to a high standard, rooms were spacious and clean and the beds were great. The village of Montone is exquisite and a short walk (uphill) takes you into a more relaxed and peaceful world.

Excellent accommodation. Very very comfy beds and lovely modern bathrooms. Huge pool. Very friendly and helpful hosts. Wonderful location with fabulous views and great walks. The local village, a very short walk away, is so beautiful and has a great selection of very good restaurants plus a very friendly cafe/bar plus a bakery, grocery and more. Really good facilities for such a small place providing everything you need in a wonderful setting. You wouldn't necessarily need a car once you get there.

The gorgeous owners greeted us like old friends. Their home is 'simple luxury' in beautiful Umbrian countryside. Lovely pool, big big beds with proper linen and fluffy white towels, proper showers, and thoughtful items left to get by for the first day. Casa delle Grazie has all you need and best of all you can go on foot if you do wish to venture to the beautiful village (a short hilly climb, 7 mins - torch required!). Thank you so much we can't wait to return next summer!

Aine and Fabio are lovely hosts - warm and helpful. The set up is great for kids - with the pool, football pitch and play area for younger kids. Montone is an easy ten minute walk and it is a charming village with lovely restaurants and a great piazza so no need to drive for a meal. Our two-bedroom apartment was the most recently renovated and the terrace had a lovely view of the Umbrian hills and you could watch the sun go down in the evening. The apartment was spacious and really comfortable. There are activities like art for kids, yoga, cookery lessons. Highly recommended!
