A painter’s dream, the view from your splendid old farmhouse is a spectacular, typically Umbrian scene of fields and forests rolling in waves up to the hilltop village of Montone. The generous spaces of the big-beamed house, its two-floor layout – each with its own sitting room – and several garden patios bring privacy for all, while the communal and pool areas are just right for happy group events. The personal, pleasing décor is that of a treasured family home – think lovely original brick floors and considered colour washes – with paintings and antiques dotted about and light pouring in from all sides. There are books and DVDs to suit most tastes, and a fence all round to keep children safe. A huge old farmhouse table has pride of place in the long, modern kitchen where helpers can talk to contented cooks while garden scents waft in through the windows. Each big double bedroom has a pretty, new bathroom; one has a canopied bed, but all are equally delightful. Sally forth to Montone’s many festivals, incomparable Perugia and Assisi, wine-tasting in Montefalco, and return to watch the sun set over your calm cocoon.
Great location for exploring Assisi, Spello, Gubbio and Montefalco. Montone, a beautiful village on the doorstep, has a brilliant choice of restaurants for all budgets. Lovely renovated character property, comfortably furnished. Incredibly helpful English owners, when booking and during our stay. We stayed for two weeks to host family and friends. Everyone had comfortable bedrooms either with modern ensuite or bathroom adjacent. Great pool with plenty of sun loungers. Shady loggia near pool and shady terrace near kitchen, with spectacular views. We had a great time at Casa Bacciana.
