The Experience

Start the day feeding the donkeys. End the day gazing on magical skies. This is a special place for all ages, with games, a play area, and a beautifully landscaped pool – imagine diving into that on a hot day.

The farm sits on a hillside strewn with olive trees, oaks and laurels. The main building houses the B&B, the attached building two apartments, and all is simple and spotless. Dinner – a fixed menu with plenty of wine – is a highlight. Lucia prepares rustic, generous, Umbrian dishes brought to long tables. Outside or in, it’s lively and fun. Massimo and Lucia are smiling and welcoming.

Take the scenic route to Assisi (45km); you don’t have to be religious to be struck by its beauty. The nearest town is one of Umbria’s oldest – hilltop Gubbio, a half-hour drive. Plan an autumnal hike in Monte Cucco National park (35km), and return to a roaring fire. Out of season, the walking is magnificent.

Reviews

When in Italy we love to stay at Agritourismo. Val di Boccio is one of the best we have visited. Magnificent restored property on a hill with breathtaking views. Very family friendly with common area. Dinners served were authentic Italian food, including second helpings. Lucia is an excellent chef. Host Massimo is wonderful, and can direct you the numerous surrounding towns and villages for special day trips all within30 minutes away. Well worth a stay here.

We just spent two weeks at Val di Boccio and can’t decide what we loved best - the fabulous dinners, walks in the idyllic setting, generous pristine pool, visits to feed the donkeys, the kids playground, the playful twin kittens? All came together to make a perfect stay for our young family. Many of the families we met come every year. Local shops are a short drive away and there are good facilities to prepare lunches and for laundry. With Covid restrictions a few changes were made to keep everyone safe but everything has been done to maximise fun and relaxation in breathtaking surroundings.

We had a fantastic week in the beautiful house and the breathtaking surroundings. Eating in with the other families every night and our kids playing until dark. The pool area is fantastic and the animals lovely. Prepare to do outings for lunch or buy food at a nearby village.

Location

The neighbourhood

Deep in the wooded flanks of a valley with huge views, this feels like the middle of nowhere. Lounge by the pool all day, or roam the farm’s 170 acres. For basics, pop into little Casacastalda (4km); or, in high summer, the food festival at Carbonesca (3km). Find beauty and culture on the steep cobbled streets of Gubbio; feast on truffle pasta on the terrace of Locanda Aquasanta, 6km.

Introducing

Massimo Passeri

Massimo and Lucia, who live further up the hill, rent the agriturismo from the owners. Massimo was in IT, and Lucia has been cooking since she can remember. Both are passionate about food, nature, wildlife, and animals. Young, smiling and charming, they are the main contact for guests.
