The Experience
Tucked in the arches of the old wine cellar, the onsite restaurant Agriò Agriosteria serves typical Tuscan cuisine. Sink into a comfy armchair by the open fireplace in the shared living room, with a glass of wine and a book. The bar hosts wine tastings here; cool off in the pool or steam in the Turkish bath.
‘Classic’ rooms in the converted stables have shared patios with vineyard views. In the smart apartments in the main building, find family antiques and super showers under high, beamed ceilings. Each has a little kitchen where you can prepare a simple supper. Breakfasts of homemade cakes and bread are served under the garden gazebo.
There are bikes to rent – Marco recommends the panoramic circuit of Trasimeno. Drive out to Castiglione del Lago for splendid home cooking at Osteria Le Scalette, or take a picnic on a boat trip to the islands on the lake. Round the day off with a massage, and a glass of the estate’s own Fanini wine.

Local points of interest from Marco Fornaciari da Passano
- Lake Trasimeno is located in the green heart of Umbria. It’s a natural paradise home to wild ducks, cormorants, kites and kingfishers. Gentle hills form the backdrop to the lake, along with woods and sunflower and corn fields, vineyards and olive groves.
- Thanks to the great variety of its territory – rich in art, nature and good food – tourists who want to explore the territory between Umbria and Tuscany can choose from amongst a wide range of activities.
- In the Lake Trasimeno Park, set among the Umbrian hills, it is possible to follow bicycling, walking or horse-riding itineraries, to discover the hills surrounding the lake and the towns overlooking it.
- In Umbria, behind a bottle of extra virgin olive oil or a good glass of wine there is a long chain of passion and territory. The Fanini Wine Cellar was created, combining the principles of modern grape-growing with a deep knowledge of the territory.
- Become a workshop apprentice for a day and create a ceramic masterpiece from scratch; hunt for the best cashmere directly in the knitwear factory; discover workshops and art workshops, antique fabrics, inlaid furniture and much more.
- Immerse yourself in the real "made in Italy" to take the tradition and creativity of the Green Heart of Italy home with you.
