The Experience
High in the Tuscan hills, this B&B revels in its surrounds, perched high above the medieval towns of San Gimignano and Certaldo with only the occasional purr of a tractor tilling the vineyards breaking the silence. Some will flock here for the pool, set in the grounds to make the most of the spectacular views, perhaps retreating to the wisteria-clad terrace for an afternoon riposo. Others will come for the food: breakfast, served in the cosy dining room or on the terrace, comes with jams made from their own fruit trees and homemade granola; the seasonal dinners include vegetables from their garden, their own wine and next door’s olive oil. Happily fed you can retreat to the distinguished living room with huge sofas and open fires and then to elegant rooms with excellent beds and views across the countryside. Kind Martin is on hand to point you to the best cycling spots, wine tasting and walks. Children will love the swing set. The rest will simply delight in the serenity.

We stayed just one night at Il Rosolaccio but wished we had been able to stay a few more. The owners, Steve and his mother Ingrid, have developed Il Rosolaccio to a very high standard indeed, and they strike absolutely the right balance between the high level of service that you would expect of a classy country house hotel, and the informal atmosphere of staying as a guest in a friend's comfortable country home in the most beautiful setting in Tuscany. The home cooked food was delicious, the staff very friendly indeed, the rooms spotless and very comfortable. All in all a most memorable stay.

- The excellent views from our panoramic position, immersed in vineyards and olive groves, make the perfect setting for delicious Italian meals, leisurely afternoons with a book by the pool or anything else you could wish for in a perfect Tuscan holiday.
- Placed between Chianti and Vernaccia di San GImignano DOCG regions, it is the perfect place for a wine-tasting experience.
- World famous hilltop towns, medieval and renaissance towns can be reached with a short drive, including San Gimignano, Siena, Florence, Volterra, Pisa, Certaldo, and many many more.

This is an ideal base to visit Chianti. The building is calming and comfortable with fine views over vineyards. The staff were very friendly and informative and we felt fully relaxed after our week here. The pool was also welcome after a day of travelling around. Florence is an easy day out and taking the train from Certaldo (free parking west of the station) made it very straightforward.
