The Experience

This is a relaxed home so you don’t have to creep about on egg shells and your hosts Johnny and Elizabeth are happy for you to take the whole house for a family celebration and use the kitchen, or opt for traditional B&B. Breakfast is served in the old-fashioned kitchen with its fireplace and painted tiles, or in the garden dining room with French windows opening onto the loggia: fresh breads, jams, yogurt, local pecorino cheeses, freshly baked tarts.

Escape to the garden for a quiet read surrounded by vines, palms, pines, succulents and an enormous grapefruit tree, or settle in one of two sitting rooms with generous armchairs, plump sofas and lots of family history to admire. Spill out of the house and down the cobblestone street to two trattorias with local specialities – this is such a tiny place that the locals will know you by the end of your first day.

Walk, cycle, sample local wines, return to old-fashioned comfort.

Reviews

A few months on and we are still enjoying very happy memories of staying here. Our hosts looked after us with generosity, thinking of every detail to make our stay completely wonderful. The house is full of artistic history, which is complimented by Elizabeth’s beautiful flower arrangements.

Jane, London

Johnny and Elizabeth are fabulous hosts who make you feel like you are staying with friends who happen to live in the most beautiful home in the most peaceful and gorgeous place in the world. Their home is on the outer wall of an tiny Italian walled town, and you look across a valley where the only sound is of the birds and the occasional person taking in the street. And if you want intelligent conversation, then the early evening drink is a good time, or over your made to order breakfast on their balcony suspended over the valley. Utter bliss. We will be back!

Evelyn, Bath

An example of slow living par excellence. Guests will appreciate the care and attention hosts Johnny and Elizabeth have invested in preserving the antique family property as well as the joy in sharing it. A personalized breakfast of fresh local products served in the frescoed garden dining room overlooking oak-laden hills starts the day of exploration in this less trodden yet stunning Tuscany.

Location

The neighbourhood

It's special here. A medieval hamlet set among the woods and olive groves of the Maremma in southern Tuscany - no cars, just cobbled streets and friendly locals. Take walks from here on trails through the woods,or go horse riding along the coast at low season. Magliano, 9kms, has a wider choice of restaurants, including Da Guido for their gnudi pasta and the local wine Morellino di Scansano.

Local points of interest from Johnny & Elizabeth Petrucci

  • Four amazing Golf Courses nearby
  • Horse riding
  • Some of the finest beaches in Tuscany
  • ThermalNatural Waterfalls and Spa
  • Winetasting. This is the area of Morellino di Scansano. Montalcino with it's Brunello and Chianti are less than an hour drive
  • The roads around Pereta are very popular among Cyclists. Very little traffic and amazing hamlets nearby

Introducing

Johnny & Elizabeth Petrucci

Johnny (this is his old family home) and Elizabeth both worked in advertising and communications, but having got stuck here during the pandemic decided to stay and do the place up, room by room. They and their children shift around from the main house to their quarters in the former olive mill. They adore the peace and seclusion here and love to make their guests feel at home.
