The Experience

Tasteful splendour with ease and informality – that’s the aim here and they’ve certainly achieved it. There are so many delightful areas to spend time in – both indoors and out, with various grand rooms, dining areas, pool and grounds. On a rainy day you can take a cookery class, have a massage in the old windmill tower, take a cellar tour and have a guided wine tasting/meal to sample their prized production. All this just half an hour from Florence.

Bedrooms in the main villa are calm and spacious with fine antiques, original artwork, handsome linens and fine views; there are two self-catering villas in the grounds, equally elegant and comfortable, one with an enormous kitchen. Well before sunrise the pastry chef arrives to prepare your breakfast; lunches and dinners are seasonal, regional and delicious.

There are two pools, one for the B&B guests, the other for the self-catering villas. Marked country walks start from the door.

Location

The neighbourhood

Surrounded by their own vineyards, this is a private country setting. San Donato in Collina is the closest hamlet (3km) where you'll find a food shop, an informal bar, a café and an osteria. It's a five-minute drive to Ristorante 588 or 100 Palmi. The closest train station is at Figline e Incisa, a 20-minute drive. There are four marked walking trails on the estate for various levels of ability.
