Country House Nazzano - Lucciola & Rondine

A couple of miles up the hill from the nearest town, Certaldo, through vines and olives and a private road, there is a lovely cluster of farm buildings on a gentle rise. You have neighbours but all is peaceful. Miriam and Carlo live nearby and will be there to meet you and can share tips and knowledge about the area.

In the barn are two beautifully-renovated apartments. Each is independent but connected by an internal door for larger groups. In the loggia there is a large table (seats 10) for al fresco meals. Choose between larger La Lucciola, with an elegant sitting room, arched windows and panoramic views over the Chianti hills, or La Rondine, a bright and welcoming space with a private garden and pergola. Each has a well-equipped kitchen and little cool-off pools are in progress.

The village is a five-minute drive, great for restaurants and bars, and the funicular to lovely hilltop Certaldo Alto. Pull on your boots and hike to San Gimignano – as soon as you crest the hill the views stretch across the valley to the towers of San Gimignano, beautifully floodlit at night. Pisa, Florence and Siena are all close.
