The Experience
Getting here is half the adventure. Twists and turns, onwards and upwards until high on a hill you find a gorgeous 200-year-old farmhouse with sweeping views from a vine-covered terrace, massed lavender and mature trees, smooth green lawns, a large infinity pool and a walk-in bread and pizza oven. There’s even a little (deconsecrated) private church with painted murals. There’s lots of space for big groups with a large, well-equipped kitchen – big tables both indoors and out for convivial meals, a sitting room with antiques, plenty of comfy seating and a wood-burner for chilly evenings. Good art is everywhere (owner Melinda has an excellent eye) and everything feels authentic. Bedrooms are airy and spacious with grand views, bathrooms are modern and spotless. It’s a short hop to Sansepolcro for market, shops, restaurants and Piero della Francesca’s famous work ‘The Resurrection’. Further afield there’s enough culture to sink a battleship – and grand walking in the Alpe della Luna Natural Park. If you want to extend your guest list there’s another, smaller, house just up the hill facing the other way.

We stayed at Villa Calcina for 2 weeks in July 2022 and after not seeing family for several years, it was an incredible place to relax and spend time with them. The villa is fantastic with amazing views across the Tuscan hills and a true authentic Tuscan farmhouse experience that has been lovingly restored by Melinda (a better owner to rent from, you will not find). The grounds are beautiful, great pool, amazing food from local chefs we had at the villa, nearby beautiful historic towns. All in, an amazing place to experience Tuscany and I will be back!

Our weeks stay in this gorgeous Farmhouse was idyllic. There was a constant supply of the sweetest grapes from the vine over the terrace, pungent aromas of lavender and rosemary filled the air and the views and butterflies whilst walking and cycling in the surrounding countryside were stunning. We loved it. Faye & Richard

we spent the most wonderful week Villa Calcina, deep in the Tuscany hills, with views to die for. The house is luxury, the walking wonderful, the food amazing and the company even better. The week rekindled by love for Italy and definitely worth a revisit.

My friends and I recently stayed at the beautiful Villa Calcina in the Tuscan hills. The Villa offered stunning views and a lovely infinity pool to relax in during the sunny weather. The inside of the Villa was decorated in an authentic Tuscan style and perfectly met our large group needs. We found the quiet location idyllic and nearby towns were easily accessible to try out some of the great recommendations left by the host. We are already booked in for next year!
