The Experience

Immerse yourselves in what was an old shepherd’s hut and is now a cosy place to escape with plenty of beams, whitewashed or exposed stone walls, pretty fabrics and an open plan living room and kitchen. The table overlooks the views and you’ll be welcomed by a bottle of local wine, or a freshly baked cake depending on the season. On balmy days you can eat outdoors on the terrace or cool off in the small pool.

There’s only one other house opposite, apart from that you’re on your own with nature. It’s a 40-minute walk from town, although there are shops and a hotel which serves food 4kms away in Santa Lucia. The owners can help you with car or scooter hire, or if you come by train they can collect you from the station.

Bring binoculars for honing in on the views and the many birds and wildlife you’ll spot – maybe even a wild boar. Workaholics will find a desk on the mezzanine and an extra single bed. Enjoy stargazing at night.

Reviews

The house has a special feel because of its ancient, rural history, and I loved the way the owners, Giuseppe and Rosamaria have furnished this 'love nest'. The view of Cefalù and its bay is stunning and I was totally immersed in nature. The space outside allows one to invite friends for dinner. I can't wait to go back to stay!

Location

The neighbourhood

Cefalù is 6kms away and the old town is fascinating: visit the Duomo, the museum, the Purgatory church and the medieval wash house. Walk up the Rocca (the mountain next to the town), swim from many beaches nearby such as Le Calette, Lascari or Pollina. Visit Castelbuono and other medieval mountain towns for regional food, wine, markets and people watching from the cafés in the pretty squares.

Introducing

Giuseppe & Rosamaria

Giuseppe an entrepreneur, and his wife, Rosamaria, an English language teacher are the main point of contact for guests and they'll meet and greet on arrival. If you're due in at night instead, then they’ll organise for you to let yourselves in.
