The Experience
An impressive complex of buildings given a wonderful renovation. Inside find traditional materials such as lava stone and earthenware plaster combined with cutting-edge design and beautiful works of art. The living room in the main building is airy, with wide vaulted ceilings and comfortable sofas in front of a fireplace – a lovely spot for a quiet read. In the evening you move to the ancient Palmento for an aperitif before deciding where to eat – in the bistro for more traditional food, or the restaurant with its inspired menu.
Bedrooms are immaculate, some suites, some with a terrace or balcony, all with sparkling en suite showers or a freestanding tub. Wake to delicious breakfasts on the veranda or in the garden with views over vine-covered slopes all the way to Etna.
Float in the outdoor infinity pool, doze on a lounger, head to the gym, enjoy sauna, steam bath and jacuzzi in the wellness area or book a massage and zone out.

Location
The neighbourhood
You're just off the main road which connects the villages of Etna to the National Park so you're in an ideal spot for visiting the volcano. Best to take a guided tour for walking Etna, hop in a 4x4 or even ski in winter. Idyllic little villages litter the area where you can taste meats and cheeses from the Nebrodi, take a wine tour of the Etna vineyards, or explore the rich cultural heritage.
Local points of interest from Relais San Giuliano
- The Opera dei Pupi is a puppet theatre that became popular in southern Italy in the early 1800s and has now been declared aUNESCO masterpiece of oral and intangible heritage.
- Go through the Etna Wine road from Viagrande to Randazzo, seeing chestnut and hazelnut trees and vineyards. The landscape around Etna is spectacular: the volcano and the smoke that makes its way through lava flows to the sea, are a real sight.
- Gjimalà farm in Trecastagni.
- Between Messina and Catania, you won't be able to resist the call of the world-famous "Gole" – the Gorges. About 50 km of main river course, with unique and unusual natural features.
- Wine experience with a cellar tour at the prestigious Benanti Winery.
