The Experience
The atmosphere is warm and relaxing with soft lighting and a twinkling brazier, neutral colours on the walls, old stone floors in the courtyard and excellent staff to look after you. You eat in the elegant restaurant: breakfast could go on forever with local ‘pasticciotti’, cakes, salami, fresh cheeses, eggs any way you want; lunches and evening meals are created from seasonal and local ingredients by chef Anotonio Capoccello – fish from the Ionian Sea, vegetables with zero kilometres. The wine list is extensive and delicious.
Bedrooms, some facing the monastery and others the Baroque buildings, are designed to welcome and calm you: some suites, some apartments with their own kitchens, some with private terraces, all sleek and neat-as-a-pin; find baskets of fresh fruit waiting for you. Admire spectacular sunsets from the terrace, cocktail in hand; float in the pool or book a spa session.
Wander out to explore ancient palaces and churches.

Location
The neighbourhood
You're just a short walk from the central square full of bars, pizzerias and restaurants. Santa Caterina and Santa Maria are the closest marinas, just 7km. Hire bikes and stop at Galatina to admire the frescoes in the basilica, or go on to Gallipoli and its ancient port – the fishing boats still go out every morning to harvest fresh fish. Lecce is 30 minutes in the car for a Roman amphitheatre.
Local points of interest from Athanase De Joussineau
- The center of Nardò represents a true triumph of Baroque art, thanks to the refined Piazza Salandra and the numerous churches that testify to the undisputed religious and artistic value of a town that already became the seat of a diocese in 1413.
- Santa Maria dell'Alto, Porto Selvaggio - The Torre dell'Alto, or more precisely of Santa Maria dell'Alto, is a lookout tower built in 1569, it communicated to the north with Torre Uluzzo and to the south with Torre Santa Caterina.
- Palude del Capitano - The pristine landscape captures the gaze and soothes the soul of visitors who find here an environment where peace and nature reign supreme. Without a doubt one of the most evocative places in Salento!
- Castello e Rivellino - Almost completely surrounded by the sea, it stands with its imposing bulk at the eastern end of the island that houses the ancient village. Probably built as early as the 11th century on pre-existing Roman fortifications.
