The Experience

Standing proud in splendid isolation, this smartly renovated honey-hued farmhouse is a dream escape for groups of friends or families. Inside, all is elegant and serene with huge picture windows to draw your gaze across rippling countryside to the pretty hilltop village of Cingoli. Muted colours marry with antique finds, a modern hanging wood-burner and a billiard table.

When you’re not out exploring you can float in the infinity pool, stretch out on sun beds and star gaze from the hot tub. It will be a joy to create feasts in the sleek kitchen then glide through the floor-to-ceiling glass doors to eat under the pergola as the sun melts over the horizon. Upstairs are four ensuite double bedrooms to snooze in, all with antique beds and smart bathrooms. Find an extra room in the annexe next to the pool.

Rent bikes and zip out for lunch at Villa Ugolini, splash at Lago di Cingoli, visit the Frasassi caves. Return to tranquility.

Location

The neighbourhood

Le Marche is Italy's hidden treasure – packed with medieval hilltop towns, the snow-capped peaks of the Apennines and the beaches and bays of the Adriatic, it has a lot to offer. Start by visiting Cingoli (7km), one of the region's oldest settlements with superb views; Lago di Cingoli is 11km and the Frasassi caves 42km. You can be on the coast in half an hour or stay local and explore by bike.

Local points of interest from Moreno Leporati

  • A direct access from the villa you can visit an infinity of ancient medieval towns from Filottrano to Osimo passing for Treia, San Severino or Cingoli himself, birthplace of Pope Pius VIII.
  • The Frasassi Caves are an unmissable stop for anyone visiting the Marche region. A must not to be missed: among the largest and most extensive in Europe, UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage. Visit the caves and the whole area: you will not regret it.
  • A swim in the sea of Portonovo and Numana only does you good.
  • Marche BalconyAssociating a beautiful emotion to the outward facing infinity, we can suggest an easysolution: go to Cingoli and look out from the Balcony of the Marche!
  • The town centre of Staffolo, on which the Orange Flag flies, stands on the back of a hill formation 442 meters above sea level, in an excellent position on the beautiful and fertile Esino valley, so much so that it deserves the nickname of Balcony of Valle.
  • In 35 minutes you can reach Macerata with the The Sferisterio, the Lauro Rossi Theater, Palazzo Buonaccorsi with the Carriage Museum and the collections of ancient and modern art, Palazzo Ricci and 20th century Italian art, the Civic Tower with the Planetary Clock.

Introducing

Moreno Leporati

Moreno and Angela fell in love with a magical ruin, the friendliness of the people and the fascinating history of the area. They spent two years teasing it back to life, using local materials and local artisans and craftspeople to complete it before opening the doors in 2018. The couple live in Modena but you will meet Tommaso who lives nearby and is on hand to meet and greet.
