The Experience
Guests keen to explore this rich area – on foot or by car – who like things simple, to cook and to eat out under the wisteria-draped pergola and by the landscaped pool, will surely love this quiet place where butterflies, bees and guests help themselves to fruit and vegetables.
There’s a memorable quality to the light and it floods into the house through many windows, illuminating living areas and super-equipped kitchen (once stables) and, up ancient stone steps, bedrooms; the master room has a mezzanine with glass balcony and studio.
You may sample the Avis’s home-grown wine and olive oil and nearby vineyards like Tavignano and Zaccagnini offer great tastings. Eating out is a pleasure too, from seafood down on the Adriatic to the local eatery where gourmet burgers are served with local microbrewery beers.

The most idyllic place! Sant’Elia is beautiful; peacefully tucked away with lovely views over open countryside, and yet an easy drive from local restaurants, cafes and things to see and do. The house is charming, well-equipped and beautifully presented, with plenty of room for our group of 9. The pool area and gardens are even lovelier than in the photos! Jerry and Irené are such warm and welcoming hosts - they were there whenever we needed them but were discreet and allowed us to feel as though Sant’Elia was truly ours for 2 glorious weeks!

One of those places you just want to keep secret as it really is. hand on heart, one of the most incredible secrets I have ever discovered. Feels like it is the middle of nowhere (but easy access to nearby town & beaches) down an almost fairy tale long and winding white road... is the lovingly restored farm house. A farm house like you’ve never seen before! The gardens almost don't seem real as they're so perfect. Stunning views. The hosts, went above and beyond. Would return in a heartbeat.

Location
The neighbourhood
This once humble farm, set in a rural location in the gentle Marche landscape, is 35 minutes from Ancona airport. There’s a restaurant within 2k; Filottrano, the nearby town, is 4k. There’s a train station 15k away in Jesi, The Milan of Le Marche; Loreto and Macerata are equidistant, for art, opera and architecture. It’s half an hour’s drive to the Conero beaches and charming villages. And there’s a great choice of local vineyards, markets and festivals
Local points of interest from Jerry & Irene Avis
- Sant Elia is very rural, standing in its own 4.5 hectares of olives, vines and garden. It was described by one guest as "A slice of heaven" Escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life, unwind and recharge at Sant Elia. Peace and tranquillity awaits.
- Le Marche is a surprisingly diverse region of Central Italy from mountains with their walking trails and winter skiing, through rolling countryside to the glorious Adriatic beaches with many top quality fish restaurants. All within easy reach of Sant Elia.
- For followers of fashion, Filottrano is famous for its tailoring, with factories producing clothes for all the major designers. Le Marche is also a centre of the shoe industry, with Prada, Tods, and numerous other brands having outlets nearby.
- We are surrounded by history and culture. Art or music we have it all. Marche has over 100 opera houses, the most famous being in Macerata, just 30 mins. away. Art lovers can follow the trail of Lotto and Crivelli, and enjoy the galleries in nearby Jesi.
- Le Marche boasts wines of exceptional quality. Reds such as Rosso Conero and Rosso Piceno, together with the more familiar white of the Verdcchio grape. Sant Elia has its own small vineyard too, producing lovely Red, White and Rosé wines.
- Services offered for an additional fee. A Style consultant to guide and help you when visiting the fashion outlets. A cook and cleaner. Towel changeover. Fitness Training sessions. See our website, www.casasantelia.com

Introducing
Jerry & Irene Avis
Irené and Jerry are British and passionate about their bit of Italy - the scene of many of their family reunions and retreats. They have renovated Sant Elia beautifully and now generously share it with guests. Irené is a fitness coach whose talent for gardening and decoration is very evident here. She and Jerry are foodies too and Jerry now puts his entrepreneurial skills behind the production of their rather good wine.
One of the most fantastic stays we've had when renting a villa. Jerry and Irene were just too kind and always available whenever we had questions. It is clear they pay attention to detail; the house and garden were very well kept and kitchen was very well stocked. Thanks to their recommendation, we hired a private chef one evening for a dinner with family who were around. A magical evening! And let's not forget the views - everywhere is beautiful but having breakfast on the first floor terrace beats it all. Hope to return some day!
