The Experience

You can self-cater too – but if you don’t fancy cooking, treat yourselves to B&B. As for the children, they’ll adore it: landscaped pools, games room, playground, trampoline, tennis, and, with luck, sunshine and friends.

Arrive to gardens, birdsong and breathtaking views. There are idyllic spots in which to hide away, a dear old dog wanders when he’s not dozing in the shade, and roses scent the air. As for the casas and cottages, they’re immaculate inside and out, and a basic breakfast is provided – toast, jam, coffee, tea. If you want the full buffet, pre-book at the villa. Other meals are a stroll away, at Il Portichetto, a restaurant/bar at the foot of Vezio Castle.

Vezio is a hamlet of church bells and cobblestones. Clamber down the steep path to bustling Varenna, and hop on the ferry to discover Bellagio, Menaggio, Lecco and Como. Then back to the waterfront – and a taxi up that hill!

Spoil yourself and enjoy an ample hearty breakfast here. Try the fresh farm eggs made to order. They are something else. This is definitely the place to come and totally switch off from the trails of day to day life. It's so relaxing and peaceful! Ideal for families. I guarantee your children will never get bored here. Location

The neighbourhood

In the hamlet of Vezio, at the foot of the castle, a stroll from the agriturismo's olive groves and lush gardens, is a good place for coffees, apertivos, pizzas and meals. Varenna, a steep hike (or winding drive) downhill, has some magical lakeside restaurants; highly recommended are La Vista and Vecchia Varenna. You can hike and bike too, and discover the towns of Lake Como by ferry – a treat!

Introducing

Maria Manuela Greppi

The land has been in Signora Greppi's family since her grandfather bought it in the 1940s. Today she lives in Milan. In 2006 she decided to rent out a couple of casas, and now the estate offers 14 holiday homes big and small. Overseeing every detail are delightful, helpful Joanna and Stefano, and their team of seven. The place is popular for events too, from yoga gatherings to weddings.
