The Experience

Arrive to sloping gardens, birdsong and astonishing views. Who would not love to stay here? A happy dog roams when he’s not dozing in the shade, there are loads to quiet spots in which to read, and the scent of old roses hangs on the air.

It’s bliss for families. Imagine three landscaped pools, a tennis court, a games room, a playground and a huge trampoline. Stock up at the delicatessens of Perledo; treat yourself to the estate’s eggs, fruits, vegetables and lush olive oil. You can book breakfast in the villa if you can’t be bothered to make your own, and there’s a restaurant/bar at the foot of the castle.

Vezio is a hamlet of church bells and cobblestones. Clamber down the steep rocky path to lakeside Varenna (maybe catch a taxi back). Take a ferry to Bellagio, Menaggio, Lecco, Como – and Villa Carlotta, famous for its grand art and botanical gardens.

No question about it. This is the perfect location for families and extended families to holiday together. On site activities will keep everyone entertained but please explore further this magical central point of Lake Como. Lovely hosts Joanna and Stefano are on hand to advise on everything from what to do, where to shop and the best local restaurants in the area to suit all budgets.

Location

The neighbourhood

In the hamlet of Vezio, at the foot of the castle, a stroll from the agriturismo's olive groves and lush gardens, is a good place for coffees, apertivos, pizzas and meals. Varenna, a steep hike (or winding drive) downhill, has some magical lakeside restaurants; highly recommended are La Vista and Vecchia Varenna. You can hike and bike too, and discover the towns of Lake Como by ferry – a treat!

Introducing

Maria Manuela Greppi

The land has been in Signora Greppi's family since her grandfather bought it in the 1940s. Today she lives in Milan. In 2006 she decided to rent out a couple of casas, and now the estate offers 14 holiday homes big and small. Overseeing every detail are delightful, helpful Joanna and Stefano, and their team of seven. The place is popular for events too, from yoga gatherings to weddings.
