The Experience
Slow down as you spiral up from Lake Como to a 400-year-old cascina floating in Spina Verde’s bucolic hills. Be inspired by soaring Alpine views and by Samuel’s stylish eco-friendly restoration. The smell of fresh pine wafts through stone-walled bedrooms with huge beams, fireplaces, oriental rugs and bold red splashes. You lay your sleepy head on organic pillows, scribble postcards on reclaimed tables, fling open shutters to mountain views. Nature keeps the old farm estate beautiful with wild flowers, birds, bees and other creatures who buzz, tweet, flutter and scurry around the chestnuts, fruit trees and olives. Stroll through them to a hidden thousand-year-old sanctuary. Breakfast – perhaps homemade pancakes, organic eggs, garden berries – is a treat under the portico or in the vaulted Sala da Pranzo, where logs crackle in a new fireplace. Above this, an ‘Open Space’ offers a blank, bean-bagged canvas for creative gatherings. Pop to the village restaurant for dinner or roll through the hills to Switzerland. Samuel and Mimma’s enthusiasm for this special spot will warm your spirit, and the scenery will thrill your heart.

Such a friendly and welcoming special place to stay! Not only for the impeccable design and approach to sustainability, but also spending time with Samuel, Mima and Nicole - all truly lovely, kind and thoughtful hosts. The natural swimming pool left our skin feeling soft and refreshed, and our meals were prepared with local, in-season ingredients to the highest standards. Our visit was lived outdoors given the terrace, direct hiking trail connections, wide views, beautiful grounds, fresh figs from the trees and dinner on a "terrace on the edge of the world". We met new friends here. Superb!

On our way to Tuscany we stopped for two nights at Cascina Rodiani. What a beautiful place set on a hilltop surrounded by a wonderful garden and a chestnut forrest. Samuel and Nicole immediately made us feel at home. They are wonderful hosts. We had a very nice dinner with locally produced antipasti, pasta and local wine and a fabulous breakfast with vegan croissants, homemade jam yoghurt, granola and a freshly made carrot juice with mint and ginger. The rooms are spacious with a very tasteful interior and elegant bathrooms. Cascina Rodiani is a wonderful place to stay.

Two more wonderful visits to the Cascina in early March 2020, blissful breaks to the journeys south and then north a week later. It's a remarkable combination of a beautiful, isolated hill-top situation and quite a short drive from the main route. This is unquestionably our favourite place to stay away from home. The peaceful surroundings and fascinating garden, the unusual and luxurious accommodation, the delicious local produce and cooking, the charm and kindness of Samuel and Mimma; all these create an atmosphere that is welcoming and unique.

Cascina Rodiani was our choice for the last two nights in Italy after a busy, bus-heavy 10-day tour that started in Rome and ended in Venice. Samuel made the reservation process easy and followed up with an email with details a few days before our arrival as he promised. He greeted us with an overview of the property and made several recommendations of activities to do on our short visit. We enjoyed talking with a couple that was also visiting for their fifth time (we understand why people keep coming back to this magical location). We enjoyed the grounds, the sauna, and the spacious roo

Wonderful place away from the madding crowds but close enough to the action. The homemade croissants are to die for. Just don't follow the satnav, you may end up in front of a very small church down the road, with a scary decent back down.

This was our second visit here and we were very happy we stopped over. Just sorry it was so short. Samuel is a lovely host. There have been a few changes since we were last here. One of which is a natural swimming lake, which is beautiful. The food that he prepares is so good and sustainably sourced. The rooms are beautiful with a comfortable bed and a really lovely bathroom. Next time we visit I hope it can be for longer.

This is a very special place. The setting is both beautiful and tranquil; the Cascina has been very sensitively restored into an extremely comfortable place to stay. The surrounding gardens and natural pool are delightful for guests as well as being wonderfully beneficial for wildlife. Everything has been done with great sensitivity and thought in terms of the place’s history and environmental impact. Samuel is the most caring and generous host, advising on the local area and cooking delicious food from high quality local ingredients. We have already returned and will do so again!!

Everything is right about Cascina Rodiani: the proud, ancient building, gorgeous bedrooms and eating areas, unfussy hospitality, very good food, beautiful spots to sit outside and under the arcaded terrace, a very strong bond to the landscape, both cultivated and natural.

We were absolutely delighted by our stay at Cascina Rodiani. Samuel and Mima are charming, generous hosts and their beautiful hilltop location is utterly gorgeous. The views, the food, the natural pool, the garden, the buildings - all the best I can imagine, all very lovingly crafted. It was wonderful to be able to escape, after busy day exploring Como, to this peaceful retreat where we were so well looked after. I'm really happy we had the chance to stay here and we'll definitely be going back.

We had a lovely stay in beautiful park like surroundings. Dinner and breakfast were served by Samuel, a great host, on the veranda with fresh, simple and high quality tasty food. The view from the veranda in front of our room in the evening was like a fairytale. We tremendously enjoyed our stay at the Cascina Rodiani.
