The Experience
The suites (a five-minute walk from one another) are in two medieval village houses all on top of each other and connected by ramps, stairs and arches. One has a spacious terrace with sea views and a projector room and the other a tiny walled garden filled with bougainvillea.
Luca serves breakfast in the ‘bed and cinema’ suite and includes eggs, his mother’s jams, cold cuts from the Antica Salumeria, and milk and yogurts from local, organic farms. It’s a sociable affair around a big wooden table with a roaring fire in winter.
Luca can help you plan to trek the hillside footpaths, visit nearby caves, walk to Lerici to swim or sail and organise a wine tasting for you. He’ll even give you a cookery lesson. Fun to come with another couple and enjoy the Jacuzzi and traditional Finnish sauna.

Location
The neighbourhood
The village dates back to the year 1000 and is dominated by an ancient military fortress overlooking a narrow valley to the sea. You can trek on the hillside footpaths, visit the famous Farfalla Dorata cave, walk to Lerici (30 minutes on foot) to swim, or book a sailing outing to the Cinque Terre (an hour by car) from Lerici. There are also archeological sites of the Apiligurian peoples and the Sarzana antique fair (ten minutes drive). You are a 20-minutes walk from the village of Romito Magra that has a restaurant.
Local points of interest from Luca Palmero Scatena
- A MAZE OF FOOTPATHS: You will be amazed by our hidden routes: begin by walking along the pathways starting from the Omhom doors and follow them into the woods and the surrounding hills.
- TRIPS IN SAILING BOATS: take a boat to visit the Gulf of Poets, the Cinque Terre or even the islands of the Tuscan archipelago. We have another card up our sleeves: our friends at Velagiovane will help you to discover this land.... from the sea.
- EXCURSION BY JEEP INTO THE MOUNTAINS OF “WHITE GOLD”: Nearby Carrara is world famous for its White Gold: marble. Michelangelo, Canova and many other famous sculptors came here to acquire it for works. You can book a guided tour by jeep to discover it.
- PLUNGE INTO THE BLUE: Omhom is strategically placed for all sea lovers, within easy reach you can find the long sandy beach of Marinella, the rocky promontory of Bocca di Magra and Montemarcello, the Gulf of Poets with the beautiful Lerici and San Terenzo
- VISIT THE FAMOUS CINQUE TERRE: we will suggest the best way to visit the wonderful 5 villages perched on the cliff of the ligurian coastline.

Introducing
Luca Palmero Scatena
Luca comes from La Spezia and is a chef and master sommelier. He has worked with several starred restaurants, including San Domenico in Imola and his work as chef at another Sawday’s place inspired him to run a place of his own. He loves meeting people, speaks several languages, and enjoys sharing personal stories over good wine and gourmet food. He loves sailing, and will happily organize tours of the Ligurian coast, as well as wine tastings.
