The Experience

Up the wooden steps to the pool, for a lazy swim and an inviting lounger. All you hear are the birds, the wind, and the church bells on Sunday. This elevated farmhouse follows the slope of a hill so its terraces and views are among the loveliest in the Lazio.

The ground floor has become an open-plan living room of space and light, with books, a wood-burner, TV and wifi. Prepare a meal in the sociable kitchen; drift outside to the barbecue. Upstairs are the bedrooms, the master room by far the largest, all three with huge views.

You couldn’t be closer to the village; its southern gateway is 50 paces. Enter the arch, head for the square, and enjoy a coffee or a gelato. Seek out the sacred sites – Madonna del Rifugio, St Maria del Piano, St Andrea, the Chapel of St Pietro. You can hop on a train from here too.

Reviews

I have been living in this area for over 20 years now so I definetely love it. No traffic, no noise, no rush. Clean air, great food, lovely walks in the woods and olive groves basically from home. You easily enter in a more simple way of life, that is a real luxury for more and more travellers. And it's really easy to reach Rome and many other site in central Italy due to its strategic position

Location

The neighbourhood

There are just a handful of shops in Collevecchio, along with churches and art-filled palazzi; note Coperchi, Menichini and Floridi. The Lazio hills are scattered with history, villages like this one no more than a 20-minute drive. You can hike in the mountains and visit archaeological sites like the Forum Novem in Vescovio, a 12-minute drive. In an area unspoiled by tourism, restaurants are authentic and family-run.

Local points of interest from John Wassinton

  • Through the front door you will arrive at the bar in the centrel of this tiny town and through the back door, where the terrace is, you will be in the middle of the 'campagn' with a special swimming pool and amidst of olive trees. Sufficient shade.
  • The train station is a drive of 10 minutes. Within appr one hour will arrive in the centre of Rome. From the station Tiburtina you can get the train to Naples, Firenze, etc.
  • There are sufficient walking opportunities in the neighbourhood. In the living you will find all the information you need.
  • I have had many compliments regarding the Manual. A lot of information with respect to the house, the garden, Collevecchio, the best restaurants in the near surroudings are to be found in it.
  • You will also find tips to make excursions by car in the surrounding areas, f.e. the beautiful towns in Umbria, the surroundings near the lakes, the beaches, etc.
  • If you need specific information you can always phone me on my mobile phone (0031 6 24510061).

Introducing

John Wassinton

The Dutch owner John Wassinton lives in Amsterdam. Rossana Sciucca, who knows the area well, has been looking after the property for years. Rossana takes great pleasure in welcoming guests and assisting them during their stay; she speaks excellent English. If she's not available, Samantha, the friendly cleaning lady, is.
