The Experience
From the pastel-hued exterior to the candy-coloured suites, each brightly themed around Italian flowers (verbena, salvia, menta), this place is joyous. The comfortable rooms are a mix of modern and antique furniture, all have a balcony or terrace (one even has a private garden) and the en suite bathrooms are a riot of hand-painted tiles and chandeliers; several have jacuzzis and all have generous walk-in showers.
While away an hour or two on the wisteria-laden patio or cool off in the swimming pool. Take a guided tour around the family’s nearby farm where they grow the produce served in the Michelin-starred restaurant, or learn the secrets of the kitchen in a cooking class.
The à la carte breakfasts are incredible – fully organic, from the coffee to the juices, jams and eggs on your plate. And not to be missed – a tour of the amazing wine cellar, with over 25,000 bottles quietly resting in what is said to be one of the oldest cellars in the world.
