La Maison de grand Maman

Owner Massimiliano has made this chalet unique by hand-carving every bit of wood panelling, decoration and piece of furniture… whatever he didn’t make is a restored traditional family piece. Step inside to the warm, intoxicating scent of Swiss stone pine.

You’ll find a little kitchen and four bedrooms with mountain views. Chat, read a book, play a rainy-day card game by the pellet stove in the comfy living room. Massimiliano lives in the house next door; enjoy his breakfast around the kitchen table: local jams, cheeses and bread. He offers B&B in the chalet in the low season – you can have the whole house if you book all the rooms.

Children can play in the sunny back garden; there are a few slopes for skiing or Massimiliano takes you snowshoeing. In summer, book a guided hike in the mountains and learn about local herbs. The nearest restaurant is five minutes’ drive away; the nearest town, Fort Bard, with its namesake fortress, is about 20 minutes’ drive.
