The Experience
The two cottages are right next to each other so could be taken together. They’re sweet, simple and old-fashioned with wood-burning stoves, books, original art from the artist owner and plenty of sofa space. It’s the sort of place walkers, nature-lovers and beach-combers can return to after a day out, knock up a simple supper, light the fire and relax. In Fleur you get panoramic views over the mountains from the kitchen and sunroom. Both have space for sunny evenings eating out of doors.
You sleep in comfortable bedrooms with good views over the well-tended gardens, hearing only the rustling of the aspen trees outside. Kitchens and bathrooms are plain but charming and all you need is here.
Strike out on long walks into the MacGillycuddy’s Reeks, a striking mountain range stretching for 12 miles and with amazing views from its peaks. Return to pubs within walking distance.

Location
The neighbourhood
Killorglin is a bustling little town full of life in the summer - lots of traditional music in the pubs and The Puck Fair, which crowns a 'King goat' in August. There are plenty of restaurants too. You're on the Ring of Kerry tourist route so walks are endless, you can hire bikes and set off for quiet rides. Climbing can be arranged through local clubs. It's sleepy in the winter.
Local points of interest from Joanne McNicholl
- The cottages are within walking distance of award winning restaurants, bistros and delis, and great pubs offering traditional music and sumptuous pints of the black stuff are just a stroll away. Beaches within 10 mins drive and seaviews abound.
- A great base from which to tour the Ring of Kerry or the Wild Atlantic Way. Killorlglin is on both these famous scenic routes.
- Walk the Kerry way – mapped local walking routes. Or maybe climb Carrauntoohill, Ireland’s highest mountain. There are guided walks organised by the local mountaineering club.
- Visit Puck Fair, Ireland’s oldest fair which takes place on the 10th, 11th and 12th of August each year. Three days of traditional Irish craic with street music, fun fairs, and parades. The Rose of Tralee Festival or The Dingle Races are on your doorstep
- You're just 15 mins drive from the world Famous Lakes of Killarney and historic Muckross house and Gardens. Killarney has plenty of shopping, bars and restaurants and other scenic sights. The Gap of Dunloe and Molls Gap are within cycling distance!
- If it's peace and quiet you desire then relax and watch the changing views of the McGillacuddy Reeks from the cottages every morning and evening. Both cottages are nestled beautifully on Sunhill at the foot of this mountain range.
