A peaceful, unsung region, far from the crowds, too-often driven through. The countryside is bucolic and pastoral, with lanes winding past manors and farmhouses in verdant valleys. The magnificently unspoilt Old Town of Le Mans, and neighbouring market towns, all wrote a page of Plantagenet history. The food scene is vibrant too as chefs have left Paris to move to the countryside here, growing their own produce and experimenting with food and the local wines, for us to enjoy.
