The Experience
Burrowed between mountains in a quiet valley, you’re surrounded by pretty chalets and a sweet chapel. Inside there’s a big open plan space for cooking together on the range and a sociable table to gather everyone around. Bedrooms have views and on the terrace you’ll find a hot tub.
A fire welcomes you and there’s a hamper with the essentials, or you can have full chalet board – ideal if you’re skiing. In summer hire bikes (there’s plenty of storage space) and cycle along quiet roads, play tennis just down the road and eat outside on the terrace.
Little ones can be kept entertained in the riverside play area with pony rides or a turn around the ice rink. Chamonix has very smart shops with all the gear for taking on those slopes on skis or on a bike.

Location
The neighbourhood
The chocolate box village of Les Tines is wonderful at any time of the year, whether you come in deepest winter for the skiing at Grand Montets and Flégère, for the wild flowers in spring or to breathe in great lungfuls of clean air during the mild summers. Alpine fun is accessible all year round, from hiking to swimming, kayaking and all kinds of cycling – outdoorsy folk will be happy. The chalet is close to a quiet road and just five minutes’ walk to the train that chugs its scenic way along the valley. The nearest restaurants can be found in Les Praz (1.5km). It's around 5 minutes by car to the centre of Chamonix.
Local points of interest from Colleen Olianti
- Scierie means sawmill in French. The chalet, which was lovingly renovated by a team of carpenters, has mellow wood panelling and engravings in the ceiling and is clad in wood. Guests love the quiet calm of the chalet, the open views and idyllic setting.
- The chalet is between Argentière and Les Praz so it is well placed for skiing at the legendary Les Grands Montets and Flégère, which links into Le Brevent in Chamonix. There is skiing for every level within 5 minutes drive of the chalet.
- In the summer the chalet is well placed for mountain walks, with paths onto the Petit Balcons Nord and Sud just around the corner. The nearby Paradis des Praz is a wonderful little hidden gem for children, a natural playground with paddling and pony rides
- The newly renovated Best Western Hotel Excelsior nearby has a spa and restaurant which is open to non residents.
- There is a lovely 20 minute walk along the river to one of the best restaurants in the valley, La Cabane des Praz.
- Epicerie in Les Praz is a delightful, typically French, grocers shop which opens at 7.30am and in addition to baguettes and croissants, sells ham, cheeses and decent wine.

Introducing
Colleen Olianti
Colleen and Jean-Marie own a network of chalets across the valley, which they run with relaxed efficiency and a team of excellent staff – you’ll be well looked after. Jean-Marie is a Chamonix native: a well-respected mountain guide, he’s taken various politicians and celebrities around the peaks and slopes of the area, including Pierce Brosnan during the ski scenes of The World Is Not Enough.
Just a few minutes drive from the centre of Chamonix, I can just imagine relaxing in the open-plan sitting room round the log fire of this comfortable chalet. All this by a cute chapel and bubbling mountain stream and with an incredible view of Mont Blanc from the jacuzzi on the terrace!
