The Experience
A place of legend old and new, L’Hôtel is where Oscar Wilde died destitute in 1900 and where interesting people still flock. The remarkable circular six-floor atrium is gorgeous and original works of art hang in Jacques Garcia’s award-winning decor – Napoleon III-style heavy hangings, rich colours, swags, furbelows and ornate mirrors that give depth to small spaces – and every detail is a study in opulence.
Each bedroom, small or large, is a jewel box of style. One on the ground floor has its own terrace and one upstairs a balcony, but all are supremely comfortable with plenty of chocolates and snacks. You can order room service or nip down to the breakfast room or bar if you want more space. Downstairs find a little pool and steam room which you can book by the hour should you want privacy.
Wake to organic eggs, granola, pancakes, bruschetta with mozzarella, smoked salmon, pastries and good coffee then set off to discover Paris.
