The Experience

There are good reasons why artists still live in this village, home to the Sacré Coeur, that giant marshmallow of a church. It could be the views over the mansard rooftops, or the meandering cobbled streets. 

Tucked into a sweet side road is the discreet entrance of this lovely hotel. Bedrooms have deep armchairs, woollen throws and colourful fabrics. Breakfast on sunny yellow furniture on the little courtyard. This is simple luxury at its best. 

On your doorstep are trendy shops, an independent cinema, neighbourhood boulangeries and restaurants, especially towards rue Caulaincourt and Francoeur (10-minute walk). You’re superbly placed to explore and Montmartre deserves much more than an afternoon jaunt.

The neighbourhood

Lose yourself in the Cimetière de Montmartre (5-minute walk) passing Dumas, Degas and Gérôme. Late-night bars and clubs are in Pigalle; during the day head to Rue des Martrys, (10-minute walk) lined with market stalls and independent shops. You’re between Blanche and Abbesses metro stops (220m): within a short ride reach Parc Monceau, L’Arc de Triomphe, the Tuileries or Luxembourg gardens.
