We had a restful week at The Pink House which is comfortable and well equipped. It is remote and the very bendy roads up to the house mean it's a good 10 minutes drive to nearest village of Ville sur Auzon which is a typically sleepy French place which was charming with a nice restaurant Le P'tit Bonheurs. We discovered if you turn left at the bottom of the road to The Pink House you are on an amazing road through the Le Nesque Gorge to Sault which was a stunning drive. Also the property being in a dark sky area means the night sky was truly amazing.

High in the hills near Mont Ventoux we stayed for a perfect week of relaxation and sunshine. The house is well equipped with everything you could need for a holiday and the upper 2 bedrooms are air conditioned, which was very welcome in the hot July weather. Charming restaurants nearby and markets and plenty to see and do around the area. Also, lots of lovely walks nearby for those that prefer to have a bit of activity. A great holiday retreat, we would definitely recommend.

Simply perfect for us! We stayed a week with our grown up children, walking and cycling around this region of Provence. The Pink house was just what we wanted, a secluded spot on the high ground with view of the Mt.Ventoux, which we also climbed..!, great walking tracks around and easy access to the local village with boulangerie, market, cafe and lots of beautiful villages within cycling distance, such as Sault, Gigondas, Gordes, Lourmarin. The house was homely, comfortable and well set up with cool dipping pool, shade and we cooked most meals at home. Of course, I can recommend the house!

We had a fabulous week in La Lauz this is a truly beautiful house and garden . The neighbours very friendly and helpful and accommodation was really excellent. An excellent bit of advise given to us by the owners was to shop at a supermarket on your way there , as you may never want to bother to leave the pool and garden. Thank you for a very relaxing holiday.

It was a wonderful holiday in a dreamy, traditional Provencal house and mature garden. After our trips into the amazing natural beauty of the surrounding area, we were happy to relax and sunbathe around the pool. The house is very tastefully and luxuriously furnished. We cooked wonderful meals and slept very well. Thank you for a great holiday.

An old house sensitively and comfortably restored, set high in a quiet hamlet at the end of a narrow country lane. If you're seeking great views and serenity then look no further. The Pink House is a place to retreat to for total relaxation, but to still be within easy driving distance of much scenic and historic beauty: Provencal markets, music festivals, medieval villages, good food & wine.

Location
The neighbourhood
The nearest town is Villes-sur-Auzon for shops, restaurants and, at certain times of year, music festivals and concerts. This is a walking and cycling mecca - the latter for the challenge of Mt Ventoux. At 1,909 meters and positioned between the Alps and the Mediterranean, the summit is exceptionally rich in flora, with some sixty rare species. Visit Sault, the lavender capital in June/July.
Local points of interest from Virginia & Peter Thomas
- You're five miles away from the pretty little town of Villes-sur-Auzon, where there is a grocery, a supermarket, shops, a boulangerie, a wine co-operative, a post office, two bars, two pizza parlours, three restaurants and an open air swimming pool.
- You can see the Mont Ventoux, the Giant of Provence, from the bedroom window. It's the scene of one of the most challenging climbs of the Tour de France cycle race, as well as being a UNESCO biosphere reserve. The views from the summit are breathtaking.
- You can discover the 'perched' villages of Provence, built from local stone, full of character and very picturesque. Gordes, Roussillon and Bonnieux are within a short drive, as is the beautiful Cistercian Abbey of Notre-Dame de Senanque.
- The spectacular canyon Gorges de la Nesque is right on the doorstep and is home to an amazing variety of wildlife. You might be lucky enough to spot a peregrine falcon, a salamander or a golden eagle if you take a walk in the Gorges.
- The local area is a food-lover's paradise. At different times of the year you can buy fresh asparagus, cherries, apricots and truffles. Goats cheese, home-grown vegetables, olive oil and wines are readily available from local smallholdings and vineyards.
- The charming small town of Sault, the 'capital of lavender', is ten miles away. The historic weekly market is on Wednesdays. The purple lavender fields are in bloom from mid-June to mid-July and the annual Fete de la Lavande is held in Sault on August 15th.

Introducing
Virginia & Peter Thomas
Virginia and Peter were both in education which meant they moved all over the south of England. They're committed Francophiles and have holidayed in France for many years. They bought The Pink House in 2015 and restored it. They live in Herefordshire and a local (Dutch) lady called Alice is nearby if you need anything.
We had an amazing week at the Pink House. A beautifully restored Provencal house and garden with everything we could have hoped for. The village is lovely and quiet, with the occasional song of the distant donkeys, cockerels and birds. Lovely walks from the door with amazing views of Mount Ventoux. We found it to be the perfect place to spend a week chilling by the pool, shopping at the amazing local markets and enjoying the fantastic local food and wine. For peace and quiet in beautiful surroundings, the Pink House comes highly recommended! We're already looking forward to going back!
