The Experience
A beautiful slice of typical Provence. The house is surrounded by fruit orchards and lavender fields: puff 15 minutes uphill along a footpath to the village for your morning croissants and baguette, amble back down to breakfast. The big downstairs bedroom overlooks the pool, delightful for an early morning swim then tea in bed, the others are upstairs and are bright, spacious and with sunny views.
Downstairs flows easily from comfy seating around the gorgeous stone fireplace to a library area with books and a desk, then a dining room with ample table, to the large kitchen where everyone can join in the chopping and chatting. The ground floor opens out to the terraces, garden with lawn, pool and views. A summer kitchen with stove and fridge, a built-in barbecue and outside loo and shower make evenings outdoors a breeze.
Visit wine producers, hire a 2CV and motor along quiet roads, gather wonderful food from the markets.

Maison Pigalet exceeded our expectations. The house is beautifully appointed with the most spectacular view of Saignon from the house and the pool. We spent many hours exploring the surrounding beautiful villages and also ones further afield. We would love to go back but stay longer!

An idyllic slice of Provence. The house is sunny and bright, its location is stunning with views of the nearby hilltop village of Saignon. The garden, the shaded outdoor dining areas and the large pool will make it hard to leave. When you do, lavender fields and medieval hilltop Luberon villages surround you. The area is a haven for walkers and cyclists. Restaurants are within walking distance.

Location
The neighbourhood
Saignon is a very beautiful village with a small but eclectic mix of shops and some very good restaurants, including Jardin sur le Toit with its extraordinary views. There are the ruins of three castles to explore. Apt is 4.5kms for charming squares with a myriad of cafés, bars and restaurants as well as the large Saturday market which has been running for hundreds of years and is popular.
Local points of interest from Edward & Miranda Mason
- The medieval village Saignon is a beautiful 10-15 minute walk. The imposing rock on which the village is built used to house three castles and one of the four restaurants is on the old roof of one of these. Our house is clearly visible from the rock!
- Saignon is a stunning 'village perche' like those made famous by Peter Mayle: Goult, Bonnieux, Lacoste, Menerbes...but still relatively undiscovered. As well as excellent restaurants there is a boulangerie, shops and galleries and even a bouledrome!
- The Roman town Apt is only a couple of miles with flourishing markets and events, boutiques, organic shops, supermarkets etc. E/bikes are easily hired in Apt (they'll deliver too) and the old railway is a brilliant safe way to cycle many beautiful miles.
- Lovers of history and natural history will find plenty of interest incl spectacular ruined ochre mines, amazing rock formations, cedar forests, and in season the famous lavender. You can even kayak down the gorgeous rivers.
- There are restaurants and bars around the area to suit all tastes and pockets, as well as vineyards to visit and abundant produce. Guests are welcome to help themselves to fruit and herbs in our garden in season too - cherries, figs, grapes, etc
- Immaculate Citroen 2CVs can be hired a mile down the road: what better way to get in the proper Provencal spirit than to roll back the roof, tour the villages, markets and vineyards before returning to Pigalet for a swim, drinks on the terrace and dinner!

Introducing
Edward & Miranda Mason
Miranda and Edward, who live in the UK, know the area well as their family had a house for 30 years in nearby Lacoste. They come out as often as they can and hope you enjoy the house, pool and garden as much as they do. You let yourselves in with a key safe but there is a lovely lady called Jen who lives nearby and is on call if you need any help.
Lovely villa in a fabulous position. My family and I had a wonderful week amongst the lavender. Croquet became a little brutal in its competitiveness but the pool provided a cool down. Wonderful market close by and restaurants. Thank you.
