The Experience
This is a relaxed place, restored in traditional French style with unusual bedrooms built into the rock hillside, some with exposed stone walls, some with their own entrance to the garden and all with antiques and pretty fabrics. The open kitchen/dining area is spacious, there’s an open fire too, but mostly this is about being outdoors. You’ll find a beautifully-maintained pool, petanque, table football, pool table and plenty of grape-hung arbours for lounging with a book.
Two or three can work happily in the well-equipped kitchen and there are basics for cooking in the cupboards as well as coffee/tea etc. A long table indoors can seat everybody comfortably for convivial meals but these can all happen outdoors too.
You’re ensconced in the gentle Luberon countryside, surrounded by vines and agricultural land and with views to the mountains from the garden. Long summer evenings will be memorable.

Location
The neighbourhood
It's 5kms (a nice walk along footpaths) into Lourmarin, one of the principal small towns in this area which also has a castle and a Michelin-starred restaurant. You're equidistant from Cadenet, Vaugines, Cucuron and Ansouis, all of which have restaurants, shops and markets where you can stock up. This is grand walking, cycling and wine tasting country. Aix-en-Provence is 40 minutes by car.
Local points of interest from Agathe Forest
- You are a 5 minute drive to picturesque Lourmarin, one of the most popular tourist destinations in Provence. An authentic village bustling all year-round, where you can find shops, bars, restaurants, galleries and more.
- Lovely villages and sites to explore within easy reach including Gordes, Roussillon, Abbaye de Senanque. Beautiful city of Aix-en-Provence is just 30 minutes away.
- Food markets in the surrounding villages (every day of the week from April to late October). Discover the Provence lifestyle at its best!
- The house is located in the vineyards, very close to beautiful and reknown wine estates where you can experience wine tasting and wine story telling by passionate people.
- Château Lacoste, a stunning experience mixing Wine, Art and Architecture - often described as the highlight of a trip in Provence is located 20 minutes from the property.
- I'm a hiking guide and I love to share my favourite hiking trails: the must-do itineraries but also the secret paths leading to hidden treasures. Hiking maps are at your disposal. I can also help you organise your picnic, using local and seasonal foods.
