The Experience
Stock up at Tuesday’s market in Gordes; come back for lunch in the shade of the plane tree. This renovated farmhouse in five peaceful hectares is lovely for a family gathering. Wide stone steps lead to a treehouse in the woods, and there’s a large vine-fringed pool.
In summer, mown paths are peppered with wild thyme and orchids; in winter there are log fires. It’s a relaxed spacious home with a salon, dining room and TV den, and a neat kitchen. Pop into Velleron (a four-minute drive) for coffee and croissants; treat yourself to dinner in historic Pernes-les-Fontaines: the food at L’Auberge de la Camarette is a delight.
Art lovers spread your wings and set off for Avignon’s townhouse museums: the charming 18th-century Angladon; Fondation Calvert, full of unexpected treasures; and the impressive, up-to-the-minute Collection Lambert.

We really enjoyed our stay. The house is very beautiful, the outdoor area is spacious and peaceful, and the region has many places to visit, such Avignon, Lubéron, l’Isle sur la Sorgue, Fontaine de Vaucluse, Pernes les Fontaines… We also really liked the two magnificent fireplaces! We couldn’t really fault it at all! :-)

Le Mas de l'Oratoire was perfect in many ways. Firstly, the house is beautiful, rustic yet modern and comfortable with every amenity. The swimming pool is large, safe for families and well maintained. The location is very quiet apart from the odd rooster and cicada! It is situated in large wooded grounds, it was perfect for with acres of woods to explore. Not far from two small towns with restaurants and markets, it gave us plenty of options, either eating out or using the la plancha to cook outdoors. The owner Anais was lovely, helpful and accommodating . Most highly recommended.

A lovely place to stay! A relaxing stay in the heart of nature: an authentic haven of peace. What a feeling of well-being! Time stands still and passes too quickly at the same time. A very pleasant and comfortable house, an inner paradise that keeps cool in the middle of summer and a magnificent property where cicadas and birds offer you wonderful concerts. I recommend this charming Mas which invites you to rest, to read, to enjoy the swimming pool, and to visit charming nearby villages and local food markets. We will be back! Blandine R.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay. A charming and comfortable house. Lunches outside with a plancha were heaven and we all, including the children made the most of the pool. We enjoyed the Saturday market at Pernes and the local farmers market at Velleron. All bliss!

We spent five days "at home" at the end of June in the Mas d'Anaïs! A haven of peace, comfortable and spacious, with a swimming pool where we spent very pleasant moments with the family! The house is close to Isle-sur-la-Sorgue and Pernes-les-Fontaines and many other places to visit. The warm welcome we received completes the picture. You will understand: we highly recommend !!

Location
The neighbourhood
On the outskirts of little Velleron, yet in its own 12 acres, this former farmhouse is 2km from Velleron's authentic farmers' market - it's superb. The walled town of Pernes-les-Fontaines, 3km, has restaurants and 40 fountains. L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, a ten-minute drive, is famous for antiques and galleries; sit by the river for lunch or a drink, at the charming Aux Cocottes.
Local points of interest from Anaïs & Richard
- Wine Tastings: You can visit vineyards in the region such as those at Gigondas, Beaumes de Venise and Ventoux ...or the wine-producing Chateau Unang near Malmort de Comtat, to the north-east of Pernes, and taste and buy fine red, white and rosé wines.
- Local Markets: Enjoy numerous markets in the area, especially the well-known marché agricole atVelleron (every day from 6pm from April to October),the one at Pernes les Fontaines every Saturday morning ...
- Antiques Market: L'Isle sur la Sorgue is well-known for its numerous antique shops, its week-end market and the waterwheel on the Sorgue, with shady restaurants overlooking the river.
- Local Restaurants: We can recommend or have been recommended the following local restaurants: La Camarette and La Margelle at Pernes les Fontaines,Le Carré d'Herbes and La Balade des Saveurs at l'Isle sur la Sorgue, andAu Gusto at Le Thor.
- Cultural sites: Pernes les Fontaines is a walled town full of charm with its towers and forty fountains.Roussillon, and the many oxides in its ochre sands combining in countless different shades, is only half an hour away. As is Gordes.
- Sport: Cycling, kayaking, horse-riding and tennis are available locally - see our website.

Introducing
Anaïs & Richard
London-based Richard and Anaïs bought this blue-shuttered 19th-century mas in 2017. They have carefully renovated it since and visit with their family as often as they can. A friend who lives nearby does the meet and greet on your arrival.
Assuming you want to leave the fantastic pool and peaceful house, everything you could possibly need is within driving or cycling distance - bakeries, supermarkets and a market for every day of the week! Plus beautiful villages and cities, lakes, rivers and more. July is quite hot in Provence (30-40*) so the pool is perfect for cooling down. A well equipped kitchen allowed me to prepare anything I needed with veg from the local daily market direct from the farms and sold by the farmers. Anaïs couldn’t have been more helpful! I’ll definitely be back for a winter break soon.
