The Experience

The property was originally built in 1261 so you’ll find stone walls and steps, some gargoyles, a Chimére and other architectural features – history lovers will be very happy. The suites are arranged over three floors and are spacious and comfortable with elegant contemporary or antique chairs, deliciously large beds, good antiques and fine views – some over to the clock tower and others of the flower-filled courtyard. Each have a cleverly fitted kitchen with sleek hob, mini oven, even a mini dishwasher.

Downstairs is a communal seating area and a library space, so you’ve got somewhere pleasant to plan your next adventure. On fine days you can sit in the courtyard surrounded by artworks, flowering plants and Mediterranean trees. There’s also a spa with a jacuzzi and fitness equipment.

You’re right in the middle of Avignon, a short walk from all the sites, museums and theatres. Enjoy the Provençal market on a Saturday morning, sip coffee in ancient squares.

Reviews

A beautiful oasis of calm in the middle of Avignon, within walking distance of so many places of interest. But you might never want to leave, the suites are so attractive and luxurious! Patrick and Sabine have thought of every comfort possible and presented everything so tastefully.

Location

The neighbourhood

Avignon is a delightful place to explore. You're spoilt with restaurants including Michelin-starred La Mirande, Pollen and La Vieille Fontaine. In summer there is a fabulous festival with theatre on almost every street and a mass of restaurant terraces – it's lively! There are some wonderful medieval villages nearby – just across the river is Villeneuves-lès-Avignon, and the Luberon is about an hour.
