The Experience
La Maison de Lune is reached by its own lane and is surrounded by fields and truffle woods. The views are long and uplifting, stretching south towards the Luberon. It was once an old outbuilding – impossible to imagine now. It’s a great place for families, friends and all who have a love of real Provence. Spread over two levels, it has delightful bedrooms all with ensuite, and if you’re a hiker or a cyclist who likes laid-back luxury, you’ll find it all here. There are logs for fires and towels for the private saltwater swimming pool (which can be heated in cooler months), wicker chairs and limestone floors, an American fridge and elegant crockery, fans for summer, parasols for sun-loungers – air con too. The colourful, well-tended garden has lavender, rosemary, wisteria, cherry, almond, olive and fig; the pool is child-safe. Find amazing Roman sites in Arles, Orange and Vaison la Romaine, art and architecture in beautiful old Avignon, and shops, restaurants and market in pretty Bedoin – a stroll away.

What an absolute gem! La Maison de Lune is a wonderful house, incredibly well appointed for a comfortable, fuss free stay. Private and wonderfully peaceful. Bédoin is a short walk away and there is lots to do in the local area. The market is a must! We enjoyed it so much that we’ve already booked for next year!

We have stayed at La Lune for the last five years over the summer. It is absolutely wonderful- from the lovely pool at the entrance through to the amazing terrace that overlooks the valley to the air conditioned bed room; all is stunning and makes the holiday so special. The local town is a 18 minute walk away through beautiful vineyards. Bedoin has something for everyone; cool bars and amazing restaurants that deliver wonderful meals using local produce. The wine is great too. We’ve already booked again for next year. In sum, the house is special, the area is beautiful.

We have so enjoyed our holiday in this charming house. The ensuite bedrooms and cool spacious living areas are very comfortable and the large flat screen TV has English channels. The kitchen is well equipped and there is a delightful outside dining area for the evenings. We loved relaxing by the pool and there are good views from the garden of Mont Ventoux. The local area has many vineyards and interesting villages to explore and the owners have also provided an extensive list of local restaurants to enjoy. A wonderful escape.

This is our third visit in three years! We love the house, the beautiful countryside and the peace and tranquillity - it’s a perfect place to relax and enjoy Provençal life. The house is beautifully appointed and well equipped, whilst the garden offers a number of areas in which to relax. As the weather has been reliably wonderful on each of our visits, we’ve tended to ‘live’ outside, but the house inside is spacious and comfortable for dining or relaxing if needed. Bédoin is a short walk away and, for those who wish to cycle, there are some lovely local rides as well as Ventoux!

The photographs of La Maison de Lune don't do it justice. The building retains the character of the old beamed and stone-stepped outbuildings from which it was created, and the interiors are elegant, cool and packed with good taste. The owners have considered detail, from outside lighting to great sun loungers to the well-equipped kitchen and laundry room. The bedrooms/bathrooms are all luxurious and (helpfully) of similar size and smartness, with no. 3 up a separate stone exterior staircase with its own little balcony. It's a pleasant 'back way' walk to Bedoin past vines and woodland.

What a lovely place! The booking process was really simple, with the owner providing information packs a week before our stay. The house is beautifully decorated with very high quality kitchen appliances and utensils so it was a real pleasure to buy produce from local markets and spend the long evenings cooking, eating and sipping rose from nearby vineyards. The pool and gardens are just lovely too! I couldn't recommend this house more. We had an absolutely brilliant time, and the information book about what to do and where to go around the area was well thought out and extremely helpful.

We had a wonderful time at la Maison de Lune. In addition to the beautiful setting at the foot of the Mount Ventoux, the house was perfect (including a heated pool in April!)...

Location
The neighbourhood
Local points of interest from Sally & Peter Richardson
- Bedoin is our local village and is typical of Provence. It is located at the foot of Mont Ventoux and boasts more than a dozen restaurants, three boulangeries and all the other essential shops you might need.
- Mont Ventoux is synonymous with cycling and of course the Tour de France and cyclist come from all over the world to make the climb. It is also possible to drive up and on a clear day the view from the top is breathtaking.
- The Bedoin Monday market is the highlight of the week in summer and offers a mouthwatering selection of fresh fish, cheeses, charcuterie and vegetables not to mention beautiful clothing, leather goods, local jewellery and pottery, all a short walk away.
- We are fortunate enough to be close to some of the greatest wine growing regions of France including Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Gigondas, Vacqueyras, Cote de Rhone, Beaumes de Venise and of course our own local extremely good Cote du Ventoux.
- There are vast number of activities for all members of the family ranging from tree trekking and kayaking to horse riding and golf all of which are described in more detail in our house notes.
- Local historical places to visit include Avignon with its Palais des Papes, Orange and the music festival in the old Roman amphitheater, the Cistercian Abbey at Senaque, Vaison-la-Romaine, Arles, Aix-en-Provence and the remarkable Fontaine-de-Vaucluse.

This delightful and well appointed house, within the countryside yet near to a classic Provencal village, met all our expectations and provided everything we had hoped for, including views of Mt Ventoux. Our hosts were also excellent to work with. Just hope we can return before too long.
