The Experience
As you admire the views from the splendid south-facing terrace of this old stone dwelling, surrounded by olive and pomegranate trees, vineyards and woods, the only noises you hear are wild ones. Delightful owners live nearby and will guide you from the main road – stretches of the approach are not for low-slung cars. Having renovated the cottage themselves, skilfully blending top quality mod cons with authentic old materials, the McGarvies’ former home feels much-loved and truly welcoming. There are special touches at every turn, with a huge château-esque sofa on a white marble floor in the living room, Roman mosaic tiles in the bathroom and beautiful homemade ceramics. The kitchen is well-designed, with a wooden table to gather around and everything a real cook might need. Your bedroom with super comfy bed is downstairs, the charming children’s twin-bedded room up, and outside there’s stacks of space to eat, roam and relax. Visit nearby Provençal villages with their markets, restaurants and castles, go walking or mountain biking, cool off in the wading pool and unwind under starry skies.

A perfect retreat from civilisation! The house is in the most remarkable location - up on a hill with a view that immediately puts you in a relaxed state of mind. And yet the village of Cotignac is less than 10 minutes drive with a great weekly market and shops. The beds and pillows are very comfortable. The outdoor space is just perfect, with tables, chairs, loungers, hammocks under the shade of a mulberry tree. The owner Boyaca leaves you alone but is nearby to help with any questions and suggestions. We enjoyed eating figs right from the tree! Thank you for a wonderful stay.

We had a lovely, relaxing week at Beaurecueil. The house and especially the kitchen had everything we needed. We loved the decor and the terrace with it’s wonderful views. Cotignac is a lovely little village with markets and restaurants. Thank you Boyaca for super week.

The best gite we have stayed in, we think, in nearly forty years of travelling. It is not a place for rushing off sightseeing as soon as you have arrived but rather for enjoying what is immediately around you: the beautiful view from the terraces - two of them now - the finely detailed and decorated accommodation, the quiet fecund grounds for pottering about. And Boyaca's kindly attention completes the experience.

We had such a lovely time. Boyaca was so kind to us, and the house was quiet with a beautiful view out over the hills. It was a lovely break, London seemed very far away. The area itself was fascinating and very inspiring and we would return in a flash and highly recommend it to anyone else. We had two young children with us, and it really was so lovely.

Wonderful holiday! We had the chance to stay in this place for 2 weeks during last summer and our 2 children can't wait for coming back next year. The house is charming, clean, well-equipped, confortable and beautifully decorated. Our kids spent hours playing in the small - so perfect for security - swimming pool. And most of all, Boyaca, our host, was so nice and helpful.

Location
The neighbourhood
Local points of interest from Boyaca McGarvie
- Beaurecueil is ideally situated 4.5km from Cotignac, in the heart of Provence and makes a perfect base to visit the region. Cotignac is a beautiful village with plenty of shops & restaurants, great atmosphere and a wonderful provençal market every Tuesday.
- Sainte-Croix lake and the breathtaking Gorges du Verdon 'Grand Site de France' are only 45 minutes away, there you can swim, go hiking or hire pedalos, kayaks or electric boats to explore or you can admire the views as you drive through the scenic route.
- Beautiful Abbaye du Thoronet is only 18 km away. There are many lovely villages to discover during the day and in the evenings you can listen to a concert, watch a play or a film at one of the many festivals in and around Cotignac.
- You can also take a day out to visit Marseille's old port. Go shopping in Cannes or gambling in Monte-Carlo. Visit the old quarters of Aix-en-Provence or Nice. Go to the beach and visit Saint-Tropez.
- Nice, Marseille and Toulon airports are about one and a half hours or less away. To Aix-en-Provence TGV railway station it's 1H15 mins.
- Please note that our drive is steep and bumpy and that the splash pool is 3m x 4m x 90 cm deep, also we have recently done work on the parking area behind the house, but this affects in no way your stay in and around the house.

We had a wonderful stay at Beaurecueil, a lovely villa with breathtaking views and the charming town of Cotignac nearby. Not knowing the area, we were especially pleased with the location. It's an easy hour's walk to town from the villa or a 10-minute drive. Make sure you have a vehicle that can manage a steep gravel road. It's only a small section, so just be prepared. The owners are lovely and live nearby. The patio is amazing, and you'll never want to leave. The pool is more of a plunge style. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need, including a collection of pretty pottery.
