The Experience
Marina and Daniel have restored their pretty hamlet of three houses with immense sympathy and beauty. Two are for guests, with oodles of original features, lovely antiques and packed with charm. Sitting rooms are cosy and prettily decorated with antique floor tiles. Bedrooms are bright, (ground floor in La Tourderie), softly coloured and comfortable.
Surrounded by fields, ancient woodland and with La Brenne Natural Park close by, this is a lovely spot for families, rambling and bird watching. Spend sunny days kayaking down the river Anglin; in Autumn go foraging for wild mushrooms in the woodland.
Enjoy the glorious isolation and peace – cosy down with a book in your private garden with a backdrop of only birdsong or breeze rustling the quince and fig trees. Take a swim in the heated shared pool; fire up the barbeque and sip while the sun sets. You may catch a glimpse of a grazing deer – this is a nature lover’s idyll.

Yearning to escape the bustle of modern existence I bought my teenagers here; to a picture-postcard perfect spot, far from crowds, with no mobile reception, just a cute cosy cottage surrounded by forest and farmland to cook, draw, talk, read and go on lovely walks together. It was everything that I had hoped for and more, because the owners are adorable and the forests were full of mushrooms!

La Tourderie, the smallest cottage, is completely charming. Very old with beams, lovely thick walls which keep it cool in the heat, and furnished with wonderful antiques. It is comfortable and cosy, but not dark - we loved it! The hamlet is completely peaceful, being surrounded by gentle woodland and small fields. We can't wait to come again in the spring for the wild flowers. Our hosts, Marina and Danial, were charming, generous, interesting and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. A perfect stay! We'll be back soon! Thank you so much, Anna

We had the most wonderful time staying at Les Rabauds. The cottages are ancient, peaceful, cool and wonderful set amongst the trees. We loved our week staying here and cycled every day visiting markets , lovely rivers and ancient towns. Daniel and Marina could not have been more welcoming, helpful, informative and kind and we will always remember their interest and generosity. If you have the opportunity to stay at this lovely tranquil place then do so!

Absolutely loved it. The sympathy of the restoration was particularly impressive. You could almost be on a film set such is the quality of the work and attention to detail. The cottage was so cool and welcoming a refuge from the heat of the sun that it was almost a pity to step outside. There is a photo opportunity around every corner in this unique hamlet of medieval buildings with their simple, natural gardens. Sorry should have mentioned that the dogs loved it as well, and that the pool was perfect. There are lovely towns locally and lots to do, Daniel and Marina are the best hosts ever.

The neighbourhood
Drive to bakeries and cafés within 10 minutes, or spa town La Roche Posay (14km) for its excellent traiteur. Introducing
Marina Ponjaert
Ex-Parisians Daniel and Marina began restoring their once ruinous farm buildings bit by bit many years ago, and they now live here with their son, a few cats and an adorable dog. Charming hosts, they’ll be pleased to share their vast knowledge of history, architecture and the wildlife of the area with you.
Marina and Daniel are wonderful owners, concerned about everything we needed. The house is very tasty in his old style and hygiene measures were applied in a good way. The charm is that you can be for your own, but at the same time you are part of the small microcosms in this beautiful hameau, surrounded by woods. We had a memorable stay and hope to be back.
