The Experience
Perfect for families: an old cottage which is one of two properties set in two and a half acres of gated grounds of a former Cognac Domaine, surrounding the owners’ Charentais manor house. The good-sized heated pool, set in the orchard overlooking the vineyards, is just for guests, while each cottage has its own terrace and courtyard garden with barbecue. Down a narrow driveway lined with shrubs and flowers is Manor Cottage: find a buttery-yellow sitting room with cosy armchairs and sofas, bedrooms that are a mix of old English checks and French toile de Jouy, two pristine shower rooms and a family bathroom downstairs. There’s a generous welcome pack: a bottle of Bordeaux, jams from the orchard, cakes, fresh fruit, coffee. Cooks will be content in the kitchen with its modern layout and white crockery, and plenty of space in the living room means you can eat at a table here or outside in good weather. Your kind hosts are there if you need them and can deliver breakfast if you are feeling particularly lazy! They’ll also give advice on vineyards to visit, and take you out in a classic car if you wish. Deeply relaxing.

Fabulous! The hospitality was superb, never before had the opportunity to have superb dinner with our hosts. The Morgan car was such fun; loved exploring the countryside. A private tour of a Cognac cave was a highlight. Couldn’t recommend highly enough, especially if you want to treat yourself to driving a Morgan!

Stayed in Manor Cottage for a week. The cottage was of an exceptionally high standard and beautifully presented. It had everything one needed for a perfect holiday. Hosts, Lyn & Graham were so helpful without being intrusive. Will not hesitate to return.

Diane and I stayed in Manor Cottage for a week in June/July. We couldn't recommend it too highly. The cottage is lovely, spacious and well equipped. The outside spaces are a delight, we ate breakfast at the front, outside the kitchen, and lunch and dinner in the courtyard. The wider garden and orchard are also lovely areas to explore, watch the cats, birds and butterflies and to relax in. There is a background of birdsong. The pool area is as good as any we have enjoyed in France. The cottages are on the edge of small village, surrounded by vineyards. Lyn and Graham are great hosts. They were

Everything was perfect including Lynn and Graham we really had the most wonderful stay there. The rooms were beautifully decorated, we made the most of the beautiful weather and the private courtyard for our meals and of course the pool! Wonderful pool, perfect temperature nicely kept gardens. The highlight for me was when Graham took as for a little spin in one of his beautifully kept Morgans! We have already booked again to go back next year!

We had a wonderful 2 week stay in La Rose des Vents Manor Cottage. Lyn and Graham were super hosts and the cottage contained everything that we needed for a home away from home. Lyn and Graham gave us great tips on things to see and do in the area. We loved the pool and had a swim there everyday with our young children. We have left La Rose des Vents with great memories of a super holiday! Thank you Lyn & Graham.

Manor Cottage is as described on the website - a great place to relax by the pool or as a base for touring the Charente region. It's a very well equipped Gite and our hosts couldn't have looked after us better. Their site has the added advantage of secure covered parking for several classic/expensive cars if that is how you travel! Or there's always the option of a ride in Lyn & Graham's Morgan!

Penny and I loved our 7 nights here. Lyn and Graham had thought of everything to make our stay enjoyable; the breakfast they brought to the cottage at a time to suit us included fresh local croissants and breads and fruit and home-made jams. All the rooms are spacious and beautifully furnished and we had plenty of towels -including beach towels to use at the pool -which we enjoyed! The pool and garden were not overlooked and the ambience of the whole place is peaceful with sounds of birds and sheep. In the evening we could watch the sun go down over the vineyards from the rear lawn.

We stayed at Manor Cottage for 10 days at the end of September. The weather was slightly unkind to us but Manor Cottage and the owners, Lyn and Graham Peek, more than compensated for it! Thee are two cottages but each is entirely separate from the other and whilst we didn’t use the swimming pool, it is certainly a plus for the cottages. Manor Cottage is beautifully furnished and lacks for nothing. Lyn and Graham are perfect hosts,

This was honestly the best cottage we have ever rented in many years holidaying in France. Perfect cottage which remained cool even in 40’ temperatures, a lovely airy sitting room, good bedrooms and two courtyards for relaxed meals. The icing on the cake was the terrific pool in the orchard, plenty long enough to get some exercise as well as to cool down. Added to which the owners were excellent hosts - on hand for advice or to help with any issues and yet in no way intrusive. All in all a perfect stay!

Manor Cottage is spacious, comfortable and very well equipped. The kitchen has everything you would need, the bed linen and towels were excellent quality and the whole property was spotless. A great base from which to explore the area but there is also a lovely pool for lazy hot days. Would definitely recommend.

We stayed in Manor Cottage for a week in August. I couldn't recommend it highly enough. The cottage is lovely, spacious and well equipped. It's in a beautiful area surrounded by vineyards. Lyn and Graham were great hosts. They were always available for a quick chat and ready to offer information and advice on places to visit, restaurants, shops etc. Graham took us out for a spin in one of his Morgans. I think he was just delighted to have someone to show them off too. They gave us a nice bottle of wine with the welcome pack but the highlight was the apricot jam. Delicious.

We had a great time staying at the Manor Cottage. The cottage, originally the estate manager's accommodation, was spacious and was well equipped and was a great base from which to visit Cognac and the river Charente. We have three kids (twins aged nine and a six year old) and they all enjoyed canoeing and kayaking on the Charente and spending time at Les Bains des Dames. We also visited La Rochelle and the beach at Saint Georges de Didonne (although there was a lot of traffic on the way to both so leave early). Lyn and Graham were perfect hosts, taking us all for a ride in their Morgan, thanks

Extremely spacious and well-equipped property with secluded outdoor spaces for dining and shared use of the heated swimming pool. The large living room has three sofas and room to spare! The owners are very welcoming and helpful. Nearby Cognac and the Charente River in particular are very pleasant places to visit. Would certainly recommend.

La Rose des Vents is a beautiful property to very high standard in a homely French country style. Graham and Lyn have clearly thought a lot about what is required to create a quality holiday experience from the decor to the range of equipment and not least the way that they look after the guests. Highly recommend.

We spent a great week in the Manor house, this is our second visit to La Rose des Vents. The welcome from Lyn and Graham was very warm and home made cake is always a winner! Food & drink as was delicious and plentiful with many courses. For Circuit des Ramparts Historic racing, they didn't let us down with the best tickets in the grandstands (great for photo opportunities). Our room was beautifully furnished in a classic French style. Excursions were well planned and we had a great relaxing time with our hosts and other guests. I'm sure we will be back again.... Super week - we had booked for earlier in the year (French fuel strikes prevented our visit) but Lynn was able to accommodate a postponement and it was well worth the wait - fabulous weather helped of course but Lynn had sorted out some fabulous venues and clear/interesting routes for us to take in our modern Aston Martin/Alfa Romeo cars; the routes and destinations were fantastic and it was equally wonderful to come home to a simple but sumptuous snack supper. Just the sort of holiday we like and our whole party of 6 enjoyed the organised trips and accommodation.

Very welcoming and nothing is too much trouble, with lovely cottage and swimming pool to enjoy with excellent meals in the garden. We stayed for 7 nights with our Morgan group of 7 cars/couples with lovely trips out and about villages and châteaus including excellent Angouleme racing and tour organised by Lyne & Graham with the chaos of French organisation adding to the ambience, which they took in their stride!Would definitely recommend a stay here for very, very comfortable accommodation and first class hospitality located in a lovely area close to Cognac.

lovely place to stay, beautifully furnished and very well equipped, especially for fellow classic car enthusiasts when luggage space can be very limited. We had a fantastic holiday and would recommend the property to anyone else wanting a relaxing stay in the area. The hosts, Lyn and Graham are always ready to assist and give advice on where to go and what to do in the area. Thoroughly recommend it.

We had a completely and utterly wonderful holiday for my husband's 60th birthday. Manor Cottage was everything we hoped it would be and more. It was very well equipped, beautifully furnished yet extremely comfortable and privately situated. The pool was warm and the gardens beautiful. We loved riding in the Morgan. The roads are quiet and owners Lyn and Graham have devised routes that take you to out of the way places that you would never discover yourself. Nothing is too much trouble and Lyn and Graham do everything possible to ensure that you have a wonderful holiday. We did. It was the best

Not knowing what to expect, this was truly delightful. The cottage was spacious, clean and private. Lyn and Graham are amazing hosts. The welcome evening meal was delicious and breakfasts fabulous. Lyn gave us ideas of routes that we might like to use as we didn’t know the area at all. Each route was great. Brilliant suggestions for meals out too and we managed a classic car meet at the local cognac museum as well which was interesting. The food throughout the holiday was sublime. This was a thoroughly relaxing, interesting and friendly holiday. Definitely recommend anyone to book.
