There’s a serene, uncluttered feel to Stéphanie’s interior design and you look out from light bedrooms on the estate stables and grounds; the wooded hills beyond entice you to lace up your walking boots.At breakfast there’s a fine spread of homemade jams, local cakes, cheeses – like the soft Rollot – and charcuterie… take some home too from the Sunday market in nearby Poix de Picardie.Amiens, with its fine Notre Dame gothic Cathedral, is also a foodie city (almond macaroons a speciality) with excellent restaurants like Brasserie Jules and Chez Rosa. Go in December for the largest Christmas market in northern France. Follow the WW1 Circuit of Remembrance and visit the wildlife reserve of the beautiful Somme Bay, complete with seal colony.
