The Experience
Donkeys to stroke, bicycles to hire and ponies to ride: families will be in clover. It’s authentic and unpretentious here; many guests stop on their way south – you’re just a short hop from the motorway but the feel is very quiet and rural.
Friendly Norbert-André is a good cook and you can all eat together or at single tables if you prefer; cheeses are local, vegetables are just-picked, banquets can be arranged. He also organises temporary exhibitions of local art in the salon and dining room.
Stroll through the parkland surrounding the house; visit the swans in the pond or the farm animals. Saddle up one of the horses and enjoy a guided trek – for a day or even two – or you can hike or cycle. Historic Abbeville is a ten-minute drive and the coast with lovely Bay of the Somme nature reserve is half an hour.

Absolute gem! Not to be missed. This charming chateau is one of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed in. Tucked away in a lovely village, the chateau oozes class and charm. Norbert the host and owner is incredibly warm and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble. The rooms are spacious and beautifully furnished. The grounds are exceptional. Whatever you do, don’t miss this experience!

We absolutely love this place and have returned for a weekend away with the kids more than once. It is such a warm, friendly, calm place and the kids love running around playing with the animals whilst we can relax. Norbert-Andre is an amazing host and makes you feel instantly at home - the food is wonderful and the rooms are a delight. A fab place.

Even though we arrived late, due to the unprecedented snow blizzards, we received a warm welcome, with drinks by a glowing log fire. A wonderful regional home cooked dinner was served in the cosy music room by candlelight, making us feel relaxed & special. We stayed in the Opale suite, which has a beautiful circular sitting room and a large very tastefully decorated and comfortable bedroom. Norbert-Andre is passionate about his chateau and this showed in the quality of the rooms, service and food. We relished our relaxing stay at Chateau Behen and would gladly return for longer.

Location
The neighbourhood
The château is set in peaceful countryside a ten-minute drive from Abbeville, which has a 13th-century belfry, a notable 15th-century Gothic church and a former Carmelite convent, as well as weekly markets and festivals throughout the year. The beautiful Bay of the Somme estuary and nature reserve is just over half an hour’s drive, and there are many WW1 battlefield sites, memorials and cemeteries near.

Introducing
Cuvelier Family
The Cuveliers have lived at the château since the 1950s, and Norbert-André managed stud pacers in Australia before running the house as a B&B. He is most welcoming and will do everything he can to ensure you have a great stay.
Had the most wonderful stay at Chateau de Behen, greeted by Norbert-Andre and his brother Hubert, they could not have been more welcoming. The Chateau sits serenely within it own park, very quite. Beautiful room with bath, separate shower, separate toilet, all ensuite. Breakfast excellent, wide selection of fruit, meat, cheeses, breads, pastries on offer. I can't wait to return and stay for longer next time.
